Currently buying a MMP M700 engine as well as I have a 6266 Doc Racing kit on it's way! With that being said I currently have been wrenching on my car, taking off the front end, piece by piece. I am now at the point where I need to figure out how to pull the engine. From what I hear it's pretty tricky with the transfer case, axles, and diff. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough but I can't seem to find any info on pulling an engine from an XI/XDrive. Can anyone shed some light on where to start and what important steps I should take? Any info is greatly appreciated!

First make it look like this

Then, remove front axles
Put suspension back together.
Remove rear driveshaft
Remove front driveshaft
Remove engine mount nuts on top
Remove starter
Remove trans/transfercase mount bolts, 6
Lean trans back/down and remove bell housing bolts remove linkage same time
Remove transmission

Double check for any grounds or connectors that will be staying in chassis
Triple check for any grounds or connectors that will be staying with chassis

Bang bang lift it up.

Don't forget fuel lines!

That's if you want to keep it a rolling chasis while work is being done. Easier to just drop the subframe and keep motor and trans 1 assembly. But that requires a lift. I'm keeping my subframe in so I don't tie a bay up for a few days while engine parts come in.

Also, DO NOT FORGET power steering line from pump to rack. And coolant line from heater core to pump that runs along front of subframe. It's a metal pipe.
