Would the cast manifold fit on the N54? I nkow they have the same bolt pattern, but not sure about turbo placement and whether it would interfere on the N54 engine. Would need o2 bungs, but these might be able to be welded on depending on the alloy for the manifold. Awesome work!

Thanks! Not sure on the N54 though, as I haven't fit anything on one yet.

It would be nice to have that much hp under the hood. Not really realistic for my DD though.

Thanks for all this information, @Jeff@Speedtech where can I look into purchasing this kit for my F30 335i? My current setup is 2012 F30 335i with VRSF Downpipe, Chargepipe, FMIC, BMS intake and VF Engineering Stg2 Hex Flash. Stock turbo and stock fuel.

Hi Sean, feel free to shoot me an email ([email protected]) or we can have a side conversation here at Spoolstreet. Let me know what other questions you might have before pulling the trigger, thanks!

Here is a slightly related comment by Pure about N55 Engines:

"We have recently learned some things about the N55 motor. The biggest one that hasn't seemed to make it to the forums yet, is that they appear to be much weaker internally than an N54. I know of 4x N55 motors now, all single turbo cars making 600-650whp, that bent or broke rods. There's only a handful of N55 ST cars around, so that may be a majority of them with broken motors, lol. I'm sure a motor would last for a while with a conservative tune, great fuel, and no mistakes. But unless you want to explore new territory with a built motor, single turbo, etc., the N55 is best with 450-550whp and a simple setup, like PURE Stg2.

The stock N55 engine seems to eventually break at the 600+whp level."
LOL! This is fucking classic! They tried the same thing on the N54, after their claimed 700WHP turbos wouldn't make 700WHP without dyno spikes. These guys are such BS marketing artists its insane! Can they produce these 4 "blown" motors? How about a graph from ANY of the 4 making 600-650WHP. How about a log? Well since they never post logs of any of their exaggerated numbers, I can imagine we wont see any logs, graphs, or basically any proof of this. BUT hey guys the N55 is a LOT weaker than the N54. Want to know the solution, put our shitty flowing, failure prone Stage 2 turbo on it, and make 450WHP. Wait were they or were they not selling these turbos are 550+WHP upgrades like 6 months ago. Now that better flowing, more efficient set ups are released like this kit, our twin conversion, all of a sudden the N55 is weak, and the PS2 should be run at 450WHP to save your motor. How long until people start calling these dudes on their bullshit? If this gets edited or deleted I am going to be annoyed Tyler. They made these claims, have the back them up with a single fact. A single log or dyno, pictures from these blown motors, ANYTHING to prove they are not just using BS scare tactics to sell turbos...

Yup theres a reason why single guys are limiting the tq down low and why Tony killed a bunch of motors during the GC testing.
No actually I have killed not a single motor with GC testing. Not one. I killed a bunch of weak stock motors testing Stage 2, and 2+ long ago. We have not actually blown up a motor "testing" in a long time. I killed one that had low compression, and a knock when I bought it by desensitizing knock sensors, and running it as hard as I could in the 1/2 mile. I have yet to break a built motor even with over 900WTQ. 700WTQ by 3000RPM. I have spun a bunch of hubs, and bent like 800 valves though.

Still interested in this for E-series N55 for a few of my clients. Any ETA on E-series dev? I also have a couple F-series clients that will be looking to upgrade soon as MHD F-series is available.

Have you had any issues with Boost Creep on the EFR turbo?

I've come to the conclusion that there is a certain percentage of the population that will probably believe these unfounded rumors, until there are more of us running big turbos on N55's. It's one thing to claim a hp limit on the stock frame N55 turbo, as the backpressure has to be to the moon when creeping up to the 500whp mark (I've shown cutaways of the stock manifold, the xsec area is 1/3 of that of a T4 flange... the manifold was designed to spool damn near off idle, there's a reason that manifold is not used in any of the higher power platforms going forward), it's another to claim a limit on the engine as a whole, as some of us are already proving otherwise. We'll be able to come back to these posts in a couple years and find humor in it.

We have E series ready to go, have a few out there already, so let me know :)

I haven't had any issues with boost creep, I'm currently running boost by gear without issue -

Hello Jeff, today I called a few shops in LA inquiring engine swaps for a V10 s85 or s55. But after reading about this stage 3 turbo you are offering, I'd like to know more. I own a 2013 135IS

What performance with premium 91 Octane gas. Not interested on running E85. Also, how is the service done, specialized shops, or DYI type installations? is there a contact number?

Thanks

Hi VR-Tech - I just sent a reply to your email, so hopefully that answers your questions. Just hit me up via email or phone if you have any other questions. Thanks for the interest!

For the rest of the group, kits are shipping on E90/91/92, F22/23, F30/31, and F87. On the E82 just waiting on some coolant routing updated parts before selling any of those kits.

Also, because everyone (including me) loves dyno charts, here is a plot of our F30 mule baseline vs EFR7670 vs EFR8374. Please note - this is the same car (completely stock engine, exhaust, airbox/filter/tube) and same dyno, no garbage here. This is SAE correction (what everyone should use).

The 8374 has a lot left in it, but had run into dme torque ceiling limits or something (on dyno only, havent seen that on the street/track). These runs are at 24psi, have run up to 28psi on the street. I think the EFR8374 could put down 750whp.

Also have not run a 9174/9180, but those fitup on F chassis also, and should be good to nearly 1000hp. So if someone has a built N55 and wants to test out a 9180 let me know!
