But making a diy copy of a patented product is illegal. Doesn’t matter if you sell it or not.

We don’t pay our attorney for nothing. We made sure when we made the investment to test this that the patent was made correctly so that no one can use this and steal our idea and us not recoup our investment.

But when someone even mentioned the idea of trying to copy or replicate an idea I had, made, and spent thousands of dollars on and then thousands more to patent. I’ve spent countless hours helping people who I know don’t need any of my products and won’t buy anything just trying to help them go through logs and sort out their issues sometimes late at night. I do that because I enjoy helping people. Name any other manufacturer on this platform that does that.

Then. Where will your patent be valid? I guess US only as you won´t have lawyers worldwide and look for every single country in the EU nor China.

I think what you try here is to create some kind of picture that all the rights to replicate it are protected. They aren´t yet. Patent pending means actually not a lot but only that the process of patent lawyers is running and they are looking if this idea can be actually patented.

IMHO this whole patent story is not worth a dime. If you get the product patented successfully, good for you. A patent is a nice thing to have.

I was going to post about this and mention hiring a patent attorney is at least 5k and can be much more. The whole a patent costs $280 to apply for is a crock of shit. Very few people can do it on their own successfully unless it is very simple.

Also, fighting against someone who copies your patent is expensive and very time consuming. At a minimum you need to hire a lawyer who is fully familiar with patent litigation. Not common as far as most attorneys & expensive. Then there is the long drawn out legal proceedings. If they are out of the USA or in China you might as well pound sand. It usually is not worth fighting. Just keep innovating and bringing new products to market is the best business strategy.

The company I work for, if someone sues us, if it costs less than 100-200k in legal fees we just pay out before going to court. Granted we draw the process out and try everything under the sun without hiring a lawyer or paying our lawyers as little as possible to write letters. It works in our favor 85% of the time I would say. Know why? Lawyers just SUCK money from you. It takes fucking forever and is a huge waste of time and money for everyone involved. 5B company. Fuck Lawyers, even our own.

Anyways, I am about as worried about your patent as I am a patent on DAW/VTT/Frankenturbo/Chinacast turbos you name it.

You have released a nice product, collect your sales. On a personal note PPI you come off very defensive/hostile and it is off putting.

On another note.....I don't think replacing seals is the issue. I have seen more people forget the decoupler OR the retaining tab is mounted backwards.

Idk my friend is a full blown clown hes taken over Maintenance on his car. Back when I was maintaining it it used to run fine on a e30 mix mhd stage2 +. He replaced one motor and when I was doing the swap found he was missing an injector seal . Which was the reason for his missfires lol.. He installed some new index 12s, 95706 plugs and eldor coils so who knows if he forgot a decoupler or something silly
