While not a direct answer to your question, I will say that one of the problems with the platform has been finding a balance on what is ideal and what is sufficient. Some people will say, "No, that method is trash" even though a log style manifold has been making power since the beginning of time. It may not have every freakin optimization taken into account with the design, but its plenty good in many cases, and when you're involved in product development, you often have to make some sacrifices or changes to keep the formula in check. Going with a log style manifold is completely acceptable and it reduces the price in a way that doesn't mean you've taken risky shortcuts. This is not a civic, but this isn't a lambo either, bring on the cast log manifolds IMO.

Pretty sure these are the same turbos selling on Ebay for $929

I don't think they are upgrading the Chinese turbos with better wheels and doing the balancing themselves. They are just ordering them with the upgrades already in place.

same part number as listed on their FB post as model TD03L4-16T

If these turbos weren't such a PITA to install at that price it would almost be worth it to try a set.

For the handful of reasons I really don't want to go with a top-mount, single ... accessibility to standard turbos and the ease of work is compelling.

What ease of work do you speak of exactly?
