I am looking to go to the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tire which I believe is actually a Bridgestone RE003 sold in Australia and Europe. Maybe some of our Aussie forum friends (@aus335iguy @martymil ...) know this tire? (BTW Firestone is owned by Bridgestone)

We call them slipstones for a good reason.

The bridgestones are a good tyre but I don't like them personally, I would put them on my commuter at the right price but not on a high performance car.

But when it comes to heavy machinery that's a different story, I run them on all my cranes and they are awesome and cheap compared to the competition.

I just put a set of these on my second car (245,275/45,40/19), road manners are great and they have grip even though that car has a v8. I would recommend them.

Those are threadwear 220 tires. Given the low number of miles your car sees, and how upgraded your suspension is, I would go with something a bit sportier. Perhaps threadwear 180, or even lower if it is a newly developed compound. I believe cup 2 tires are 180 and they probably still last a bit too long.

I've had Firehawks on my PS2 X3 for about a year now and have really liked them. Long wearing, but plenty grippy. Maybe not like a 200 UTQG tire, but far more than the 340 rating it wears would imply. I suspect I'll get about 18 months and 25,000 miles of hard driving out of them before they're into the wear bars.

These are good bang-for-buck tires, especially if you live in a rainy area. Fantastic in the rain - good in dry. Even got caught in light snow and lived to see another day. While they do meet grip expectation, I find myself wishing I had gone with something more aggressive in the 200tw range, even if they wouldn't have lasted nearly as long.

Life's too short not to run 200tw tires.
