VL Performance has put their hat in the ring with this BorgWarner manifold which can hold up to a 9180, will have a clean OEM type installation with a proper filtration system and a completely relocated cooling system. More details coming soon.

It sounds like they have moved the water pump a little bit, which honestly is a good move because its really in the way for a big turbo, but at the same time that space is very tight on an E93 due to the convertible brace. Even in the stock location, there was no leftover space on my ADE bottom mount kit. I'd be interested to see how it all fits!

I just now looked at that pic and LOL'd. Seriously? That's not really the manifold design they are going with is it?

Who else sees the glaring design defect that completely negates the benefit of even having twin scroll.

Having move the water pump seems like a huge pain in the ass, I wonder where it would be relocated to?

No pwg? everyone skips to ewg so annoying for early pwg n55's..
EWG was meant to mean External Waste Gate, not electronic vs pneumatic, I've updated the title. Sorry for the confusion, this is an N54 manifold btw.

It requires they make a water pipe modification and perhaps some hoses and a bracket. But its really in a crappy spot in terms of trying to fit a lot of turbo hardware in the area.

So it uses a single wastegate? The piping to the wastegate consist of two pipes breaking off at 90 degree angle then one merging into the other? It would appear to me that they may have issues effectively controlling boost.

They could have just have it divided up until the wastegates flange...

And that u turn right before the turbo... Argh. This probably the worst manifold I have seen for a while.

IMHO the problem isn't the bends right before the turbo, it's not merging two wastegate runners into one. It's the fact they aren't splitting the wastegate. Look at the CES manifold, the ACF manifold. They keep the pulse-paths separated with a divider all the way to the wastegate itself. Without that divider the pulses will mix and the effectiveness that you get from twin scroll responsiveness are diminished or eliminated.

Technically, they could still have plans for that divider. I don't see why they couldn't add one in that spot, seems like pretty easy access to weld given its right in the middle of a Y.

They certainly could. But it’s sort of like seeing a manufacturer release a prototype of a new car with no mirrors. Certainly easy to add, but makes you question other things.
