You guys are talking about 2 different things at this point. Aus is referring to what Doublspaces said about still needing the recall done.

Interesting relay found on an 2009 Z4 E89 - time to get replaced!

Wow, looks really worse.

Once again, I'm not talking about pretty or not.

I'm warning about the very rare situation that one of these contacts can bond. Then the pump starts to run continously and will be destroyed by overheating - no doubt about it.

Thanks to @RobbiZ4 for all his work on the E89 hydraulic top system. I suspect this may also apply, in some way to the E90 hydraulics? @RobbiZ4? I am reposting this information from E89 Post, and ultimately one wants to go look at the German Zroadster forum, where the work is laid out in further detail.

From RobbiZ4 at https://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1522435

Hi guys,

In the German zroadster.com forum we currently had several cars with damaged hydraulic pumps. Today I got one damaged pump as well as the 2 pink relais from one of the forum members for further analysis.
...
Update 2022:

Even the new BMW 4 series convertible G23 has the same critical relay design like all elder BMW models.

My recommendation to get the 2 salmon relays replaced with new ones every 5 years will cover this brand new model as well.

Just a little reminder for those, who are new to the Z4 E89 family.

Get the orginal relays next to the hydraulic pump replaced with new ones immediately to avoid expensive pump damages. It just takes 10 seconds to replace both relays. Alle details can be found on the 1st post of this thread.

For those in the US, I think this is the part:

Somehow after all these years I've not done this. I just ordered a set.
