I've only taken my car out a few times this year as the weather is still cold around here. Every time I go WOT and bang the gears I am just waiting for the engine to pop because of this damn thread ;)

Trust me the noise is great when it happens, @dmec1 knows the trick to stop it but its not for us peasants🤣. I say you put it on E and let it eat, those motors seem to hold just fine

So…keyed crank hub AND crank bolt capture is the answer? Would hate to lose a motor off a normal shift into 3rd.

Wow.... that totally sucks. Same thing happened to that youtube guy (vehicular diy) after he manual swapped his e90. Spun his hub and he was barely on it.

My biggest fear is spinning the hub..... and this thread was pretty good reading until page 5 was infiltrated.

I'll hook you up on vendor pricing if you end up wanting a hub

Thanks for the offer.

If I hadn't already put my oil pan back on I'd think about it.

I may try one of those hub bolt capture things. I don't know, from what I've read I'll be fine with the setup I'm running on my e60.

Those bolt captures really don’t work. Technically the bolt and the hub just spin together then. @SlowE93

Took the engine apart tonight, and I'd really like to believe something in the exhaust side of the head failed first which in turn put a ton of stress on the crank hub. The head is absolutely mangled, the crank has damaged threads, cams are f*ucked. It looks like the crank bolt was ripped out, and the hub has welded itself together now.
