BMP factory location. At the time was the only one using OEM gaskets and had PI, port meth etc.
Gotcha. I like the plazmaman out of all the options we have, but would love to see something like a hypertune manifold with a carbon plenum.

I don't have that option right now so I will have to work with the OEM manifold. I found an 1/8 NPT I think will work.

You can T this into your BOV line or add a new vacuum line for it. Everybody should upgrade their vacuum line going to the bov to 1/4" anyway.

Depends on how you want to do it. I just tee into my bov or turbo boost reference hose off a barb I have tapped into my stock intake manifold.
I use a 3.5 bar AEM sensor, but you can use any you'd like. The sensor scaling is a bit different then stock so it will require you to rework you AIC fuel table a bit, but it's not too bad.

3 wires on my harness.
-Ground
-Output signal to connect to AIC
-Power source for sensor(I add a female bushing connector to plug into the dme connector and get switched 5V from the dme. Same pin the flex fuel module uses to get power). DME large black sub connector pin 25.

Reminds me of this harness from ADE, but it retains the factory connection, basically splits the T from the MAP into separate roles.

If you run a stand alone ecu Pi is the answer to your fuelling needs.

Even though there is better safety it still runs like crap with traction control on the factory ecu, some people like the
added safety and don't want to always drive with traction control fully off.

Pi is the cheapest and easiest currently available to the n54.

Double barrel has been flawless on every install I done and running perfectly at over 900hp on our single turbo kit without
a single failure but cant be installed on every setup.

Helix is yet to prove itself as its seen a number of failures which claimed to be addressed but only time will tell.

I personally will be running a little pi in the future along side my double barrel to help with valve cleaning/maintenance using
straight methanol with very small injectors and to help control timing pull so I don't have to run an e85 blend.
Glad you pointed this out. I wanted to add PI but I use my car for skiing so sounds far from ideal between ice/snow and big power that even spins xdrive tires.

i see this new Motiv Reflex is coming out now. I’m excited to try the true flex tuning on MHD, and wonder if it offers benefits over prior JB4/AIC

Welcome to the forum! I wouldn’t worry too much about PI and traction control, they won’t be an issue as long as your PI controller is set up correctly. By that, I mean its load reference should come from the intake manifold rather than the charge pipe. I’ve had PI for almost a year now and I’ve never had issues with traction control/overboost related throttle closures/anything of the sort.

Its still a problem, it's better but still flowing fuel when the ecu is trying to pull it out.

There is only one way to fix that and it's to run a proper standalone.

How so? The only reason the ECU would be pulling out fuel is if it’s closing the throttle and MAP decreases, in which case the PI controller would see the same decrease in MAP and reduce fuel delivery accordingly.

The only case I can think of in which the PI would continue to flow when the DI isn’t is if the ECU is shutting off cylinders completely. In that case, assuming you have the MHD PI safety enabled, the spark plugs won’t be firing either, so the fuel will just flow through the exhaust. It may ignite there, but that’s no different than having an ignition cut rev limiter.

If you seen how a properly working traction control works in an emergency situation you would be shocked how crap this system works.

Try it on a skid pan and log with pi on and off and feel how jerky it is with it on.

With it off its not an issue

there is an mhd pi safety feature???? That must be n54 only. Need to ask them if it will ever get released for e N55.

in terms of if there are issues with traction control and pi that Marty is referring to, I’m assuming that would be when wot. So for the poster concerned about issues with wheel slippage in snow, I don’t think this issue wouldnt even come up because you would be driving normal and not wot when the tires slip.

You don't have to be wot to have pi flowing,

pfs has a new solution coming, I'd wait for that.

It will have more fuel than any stock block can handle at the power level you can make with it.

By far the safest solution I had tested.

That’s true I guess. For me personally, I have to be a good amount into the throttle though to get to enough boost for pi to start flowing.

I don’t see anyone having PI turn while cruising around, which was what I was trying to say you would be doing in the snow. I also self tune and probably don’t know what the hell im doing.

I am looking forward to the pfs solution. However, I am completely happy with my pi as well. It works great.

99.8% will be happy with the pfs solution and if you need more the pi will be the answer as it will only be flowing during wot

I’ve hit traction control with PI both on and off, personally I wasn’t able to notice any stark differences. It definitely wasn’t back to back though, so I would likely have missed any subtleties. My rear tires are pretty dead, so basically any time I do a 2nd gear pull nowadays I’m activating traction control, and I’ve never noticed it be jerky, regardless of whether I’m on pump gas with no PI flowing, or E85 with it flowing.

I’m not arguing that there are no benefits to a DI only setup, nor am I saying that PI is without its flaws, but interfering with traction control should not be one of those.

Yep! For N54 it’s just a flash time checkbox, all it does is cut spark whenever the ECU is cutting the direct injectors (as far as I know).

Thoughts on Motiv Reflex? integration into MHD? will track control not be an issue with Reflex? Its early yet just curious what people are thinking. It looks like a great product, integrates with OEM or standalone ECUs but what advantages will it have over other PI solutions with stock DME. Waiting to see more details and how people like it... keeping an eye on it though for sure.

Looks like what VTT was trying to achieve with their adaptronic controller, though cheaper and with some sort of MHD integration forthcoming? Not a lot of solid info, but sounds like it will also support EcuTek on the f-series and may eliminate the need for a boost box as well. I was under the impression that you could already scale PI on the split second units for ethanol, but it looks like they're advertising this as an advantage too.

I would assume with the proper MAP sensor placement and scaling besides simple boost/rpm tables, PI would work much better than currently.

Split Second can be scaled in the R4 software.
