Our 335 busted up

As you can see in my pic those are studs, not bolts. The frame section they are on have back side support from the vertical member that is the outside frame rail. If that structure bends it compromises the frame rail itself as the rail is an engineered crumple zone.
It is replaceable. Full engine removal, remove the dash, cut out the bent rail, weld in the new rail, etc. Cost me $7k (covered by insurance) back in September with a $130/hr labor rate.

Thanks. We went today to get a much closer look and made sure the engine was not hit so that is good. The radiator did hit the valve cover and cracked it but that seems to be the extent of it.
Check your harmonic balancer if everything got shoved into the front of the motor. I've have two instances where the snout of the crank got bent and it wobbled like a madman. Replacing all the parts on the front of the crank proved useless (balancer, timing sprocket etc).
If it wobbles, the motor is pretty much junk.

Thanks. I'm quite certain nothing down there was hit. Everything was above the bumper carrier through the kidney grills. We expect the VRSF intercooler to be fine as well.
Sell the motor complete if you can. Between this, the trans, the things like lights, etc you should come out alright. Expect to have a bunch of junk on your hands for a while though.

I like this idea. We will check the seams with a gauge.How do the door to fender seams look? If still good you could prob repair this thing and get by just fine, provided you do not have an extreme OCD complex like some of us (simply by knowing what lies beneath).

This particular 335 was totalled once before! My son bought it with some hidden ugly in the rear so some ugly in the front will be ok. As long as it is straight, safe, and looks like a BMW should on the outside and runs perfectly.
Ouch, this is a bummer. You might be able to do a decent repair on this, won't be factory anymore but you can probably make it work.

The bent frame rail is now accessible and can be replaced. if anyone is looking to do a major build this could be a great chassis to build on keeping your daily driver driving.
