I already have a Fuel-it stage 2 fuel pump. I am planning to add port fuel injection so I am curious of any homebrew ideas for adding another pump to my fuel setup to accomidate the extra fuel that will be needed. I assume that I will be adding an extra pump like a Walbro 450 or something similar, and will need to power it from a secondary power source and add a "hobbs switch" or something to trigger it as needed.
I am currently running 17t's and have FBO, catless exhaust, 7" stepped IC, 2" inlets, outlets, etc. I already have a JB4, usually stay on map 5 and I use XHP stage 3 flash on my transmission. I already have the N20 map sensor, eldor coils, colder NGK plugs, etc. The car runs strong and I get no misfires etc. But to get to the next power level I know I am going to need more fuel so that is why I am gathering parts for a port injection setup. I already found a cheap used JB4 Port Injection controller (since I already have the JB4). I plan to find a tuner and will be using custom MHD flashes from that tuner. Right now I want to get the fuel pump, etc. sorted out so I need advice on extra fuel. Like I said I already have a stage 2 pump installed and just need to add another pump for the PI. I am pretty good at fabrication so advising me to buy a $1,000 stage 3 or 4 pump is not helpful. What I could really use is advice from someone who knows what pump, parts, adapter fittings, etc. to get for a DIY solution. I made my own external PCV, dual catch can setup so cobbling sgtuff together is no biggie. But when I pull the fuel pump out I would really like to have the parts and adapters, etc. I need with a solid plan to get it done quickly.

Thanks for any advice or just light humor, but troll the next guy please.

Well, I'm a new guy also, but to be honest you can either do a turnkey DIY solution [PFS or Fuel-It are both good products] , or research the various threads of the DIY solutions. IT's here if you search. Good luck. Im running PFS Stage 3 with a HobbSwitch .
TBH what your looking at may possibly be addressed with a upgrading the fuel lines from the tank to the HPFP, and solving the HPFP feed issue. Again, search is your friend.
There are some decent solutions from vendors that allow for a plug-and-play upgrade from the stock fuel supply lines.

Did you pay the troll toll?

I have a harness from precision raceworks which includes the hobbs switch and relay etc. if that would help you? It's from their stage 3 kit. I do not need it because of the EOS BMP4 controller.

A DIY here: https://www.spoolstreet.com/threads/teaser-diy-stage-4-fuel-system.4555/

Or buy this for $600 vs. $1000 for a bucketed solution from PR or FI: https://vadersolutions.com/products/vs-stage-3-e-series-n54-n55-rev-1

If you are adding a 2nd pump you might as well upgrade your fuel line to -6 or -8. -6 IIRC is 17% larger ID than stock. Small money and good because you are likely goin to add an E sensor etc.

In theory the BMP4 has 'advantages' but both get the job done just fine I imagine. BMP4 is not exactly inexpensive...especially for what it is.

Shoot me a PM!

Since you have Jb4, get the Jb4 pi controller. It will trigger the secondary fuel pump without the need of a Hobbs simplifying ur install.
I already bought the JB4 injector controller. Thanks, I just started putting this together and didn't realize that would eliminate the need for a hobbs switch.

I didn't intend to 'troll' if my answer was perceived that way I have no idea why. As I stated above, before you start upgrading your fuel-pumps further, you may want to upgrade that line from the tank to the HPFP. Like someone stated above, going to AN -6 may give you the headroom you want on the 17t turbos . With the flex-fuel sensor and a decent tuner you should be able to reach around 450whp on your stage 2 pump. Maybe more depending on the car.
- Your fuel-it [if it's the bucketed-Modular pump] can be upgraded to their 'stage-3' and the second pump activated using a hobbs/or JB4 or even a BMP-4 . In any case good luck with the project.
... all the best.

First pics is my Fuel-it stage 3
Second pic is my PFS dual bucketed setup.

If you're going PI you're going to be upgrading the line anyway. Just some recommendations. [I've been down that road .. ]

You will need a relay as the pi controller is used just as a trigger. Just as a HOBBS would. No big deal and cheap. Also with the upgraded chip in JB4 (depends on how old your JB4 is ) you will also have anti lag.

What is anti-lag? I need to check how old my JB4 is. I bought it used about 2 years ago. I used to do custom car electronics so a relay is no biggie for me.

You can use anti lag to build boost off the line if you are AT or use it as rolling anti lag for same purpose.
Thanks. I figured it was something like that. I just noticed your handle I also have an E93 and love it. I'll gladly take the extra weight for the joy of being able to drop my top.

Seems like my best choice will be adding a second pump and its own dedicated fuel line. I guess I'll just find a walbro 450 or something and figure out a way to cobble together some fittings maybe on the passenger side hat? It seems like if I have my stage 2 LPFP feeding my stock index 12 injectors, and a totally separate pump/line feeding port injection I shouldn't be able to run out of fuel. Guess that means I'll need to add some sort of regulator and inline filter. Guess it might cost me ~$300 for everything. Compared to what they charge you for a stage 3 or 4 it seems to be worth it.

Does the upgraded fuel line help with fuel flow in anyway possible or is it just for a long term safety precaution running ethanol?

The stock line is fine for ethanol and you can make good power with it. Into the 700s if not higher.

I think -6 is a marginal increase in size over stock. Again IIRC something like 17% increase in diameter? I think most people do it because it makes adding adding in an ethanol sensor and or external filter etc. very simple to do. It is also not a very expensive upgrade all things considered and every little bit helps in theory.

A -8 fuel line probably makes the most sense and splitting to -6 one to HPFP and one -6 to PI rail in the engine bay if you wanted to 'do it once and do it right'. But overkill for most.
