Floored it for a couple seconds on the way home tonight and got it to misfire again. Parked up, scanned for codes; cyl 3 misfire. So I guess it’s a bad coil.

On the DSG fart thing. It could be that it happens on the more advanced (for DCTs) INAOS rom. The way i understand it the early euro DCTs run IJEOS. Switching rooms might be a way to make it work

At least its an easy fix if it is.
Yup just gonna avoid WOT while I drive it to work and back during the week and replace all plugs and coils at the weekend, then hopefully I can just enjoy the thing misfire free for the next couple of years🤞🏼

I’m not overly fussed about the dsg fart really, just would have been a cool added bonus.

The original post said he reset certain adaptations. Did you? Also I watched a BQ tuning YouTube video there’s a mode on theZs called sport traction is that what you’re talking about ?

Here's an overview of the Z4 functions, and which one to use:

There are five drive options...
Normal (Select this one)
Sport
Sport+
Traction
DSC=off

...And three DCT options
DCT D
DCT S (Select this one)
DCT M

Then use half throttle in lower gears - get it just right with decatted exhaust - BANG! on gear shift.
Has been there across any tune that I have used as far as I remember. It might also be there in other mode combinations. Haven't tested.

I've noticed the same kind of bang on upshifts under certain conditions but I've never used an MHD OTS map.

I normally attribute it to retarded timing due to boost overshooting target before the shift. That'll happen at certain rev ranges more than others depending on how the PID is configured.

What ROM are you on ?

INA0S

btw, did some logging tonight, and it seems no matter what button I push, "sport mode" for transmission does not change to active. So this sport mode might related to other versions of the DCT software.

Did you try knocking the gear lever to the left? That is referred to as a sport mode in the manual so might be it.

That is weird. I wonder if it’s just that the PID on deep OBD isn’t mapped correctly or mapped for a different vehicle?

Flashed v9.0 with a short run but didn't note any extra upshift noise.
Mine 2009 N54 335i DCT zsub 8609092

Initial impressions are good compared to 8.1 I haven't got any overboost codes but maybe too early to tell.

I know Ronald has a 335is so maybe that's the difference 🤷‍♂️

Found this on YouTube. V9.0 stage 1 seems wicket quicker than v8.0

v8.0

v9.0

They also did a V7.1 vs V8.1, different hardware at the time however

There's a MHD Vs JB4 in there somewhere too.

Nice! I’ll give them a watch later. Saw the 7.1 vs 8.1 a while back.

Loaded v9 S2+ on my car yesterday for shits and giggles and compared to 8.1. much more linear power delivery, less lag, and genuinely feels faster. So, agreed.

For DCT guys, do you tick linear throttle mapping? I recall someone mentioned that xhp advised against for the autobox but haven't read anything against on the DCT. It's much easier to control with it ticked but I don't want to be doing anything which will harm it in the long run.

Dropped the new coils in this morning, went for a long drive tonight and did a few 2nd/3rd gear pulls. No more misfires and car pulls hard with v9 S1. Unfortunately I don't have anything to compare it to since this is the first tune I have run but it felt smooth and power delivery is spot on, no complaints. Going from memory here but I don't believe I ticked linear throttle mapping FYI.
