Hello there,

My current engine is an N-54 with about 175k miles on it. I am FBO, with all maintenance up to date with the exception on injectors, and apparently the DMTL pump (which just started throwing codes). Unfortunately, I did not get them all replaced before the prices went to the moon.

That may have cost me my engine I'm afraid. Everything still runs, however, I get a knock between 2-3k rpm, and have found metal shavings on my magnetic plug during the past 2 oil changes. I am still waiting for the info from Blackstone on the oil. I have also started digging into the engine and will have the bearings off to inspect tonight.

My guess is I have a leaky injector problem that eventually thinned my oil to the point that it wasn't able to protect my engine adequately.

Before I begin dumping more money into it, I want to shop around for a crate N-54. My ultimate hp target is 600-700. To get there I'm looking at flex fuel, port injection and updated turbos, however, if I can get something built for a better price, that may be my option. Since I'm at a sort of crossroads here, figured it's a good opportunity to assess my options.

So.... if any of you could advise on my current engine situation I'd appreciate it, AND any recommendations on quality used or rebuilt engines I'd appreciate it!

btw I'm a noob over at spool, I lurk here, post on E90 šŸ˜¬

The real question is what is your budget? A fully built head and block can be 18k if you go all out.

A stock n54 will usually hold 600-700whp for a bit 600 being longer than 700.

Find an n54 in the yard and #sendit upgrade the headstuds to ARP.

You think they give you lube when they fuck you in the ass? They go in dry my man!

They made a similar post to this one(and all the others they just posted on this forum) on one of the few N54 facebook groups I am a part of. I think they hired a new marketing person who does not know their bad rep. He was spamming the 'Good Ghassen News' everywhere(like on this forum). Anyways Ghassen got absolutely wrecked, the rep for Ghassan ended up writing something along the lines of, "Well I didn't do that stuff guys, don't attack me". Tons of stories about how shitty they are and then someone posted a screenshot of all the current lawsuits Ghassen is facing, it is a lot. Looks like the post got taken down as it was just tons of documentation of how shitty Ghassen is.

If you look at their google reviews it is obviously fake. It is either 1 star reviews of how they got fucked over by Ghassen or some 'random' person who gives 5 starts and just says they do great work. Very fishy the reviews. Google reviews are easy to fake. Horrible reviews on yelp. probably harder to fake then google reviews. No reason they would be so drastically misaligned.

Their BBB is horrible: https://www.bbb.org/us/ok/perkins/p...assan-automotive-llc-0995-90055869/complaints

This is the same guy who at age 28 was hitting on a girl who had just turned 18 and was living at her parents house begging for nude pictures and that he would pay her for them. He ended up with a warrant out for his arrest and the Po Po went and got him: https://www.stwnewspress.com/news/s...cle_289328bc-c5a6-5100-b87a-dbf4b560ca11.html

Where there is smoke there is fire and Ghassan has a ton of both. The VTT of the n54 engine building world.

Buyer beware.

There is always are a few bad experiences and then there is thousands of good ones which you don't hear of much.

Usually the bad ones are the ones that stuffed up during install and want the businesses to replace it for free.

I'm not vouching for anyone's work but you pay for what you get.

Quality costs money and when its cheap it's for a reason, reputable engine builders are super expensive and wait
times usally in the months or at least a year.

Billiam Mason seems to be a very reputable engine builder. I would try to contact him.

He is the only person I would trust. Everyone else has bad reviews and is sketchy. You never hear anything negative about Billiam builds, at least I have not and that guy cranks out a fair number of built motors that get abused.
