Who are you referring to as 'he'? There was someone claiming to have an 8hp75 in their car with no adapter, swearing up and down, but never backed it up, is that who you're referring to?

Ah, I didn't know the 6r80 solenoids were controlled externally, that would make it a lot easier. To get trans brake working without an external TCU, probably need to get some wires direct to the solenoids.

My apologies for not being more specific I dont know his name right now, but yes it was the person claiming to have an 8HP75 that bolted straight up no adatper... not an 8HP70 my mistake.

Yes for the trans brake, one way or another youre going to have to wire into the solenoids which would be easier if the TCU was external but I still think its doable in way or another either with bulkhead seal for wires through pan or preferably with unused pin/connector locations on the factory TCU/mechatronic connector.

If there are unused pins, that would make it trivial. Going through the filter would work, but that's a bit sketchy. I wonder how many people would even want trans brake, that's fairly hard core drag racing for setups where brake boosting won't work. It's a bit of a parts killer, too. That said, I'm sure some will definitely want.

At some point I'm going to see if I can find any front diffs that bolt up to the N54 that are a bit beefier, it's been on my list for a while but I just haven't had time.

I agree its pretty extreme, but as you said there will be some who definitely want it. Most of my testers committing right now are pretty damn serious... some extremely so and for them its right down their alley. I do believe it has likely potential to be harder on the trans, just because of the shock force on launch hitting the shafts etc.

If you figure out something with the front diff please let me know, I will start on that later this year/early 2022. I would be happy to share what I find out as well.

So i got my kit from Joshua. It is done and installed and ready to go. Great great fitment of everything. I have a 135i and there is less room in the trans tunnel. Josh took care it it immediately and sent me some different -an fitting for the tight area. Id be driving right now but i broke a rusty ass bolt that holds the shifter cable in place. Waiting on fcp euro now.
Id say to anyone on the fence. Do it. Cant go wrong with the professionalism and attention to detail that was put into these kits. Every bolt screwed in easily and perfect. And dealing with Joshua and Rod Sutphin about the tune has been a pleasure!!!

There used to be a time someone would ask if this transmission could be used seemingly every week. The answer was always a resounding: No you idiot, the software is the limiting factor.

I'm glad to hear that we've finally made it past this. I hope to see some more feedback, videos and some long term results!

Steve you're the first tester to install the kit out of 8 that have currently shipped out. I have 15 total RWD kits that have been sold. 7 are waiting for final payment and shipping but all of them are 100% finished and ready to go. I also have 9 more adapter plates that I am allocating towards AWD setups coming soon. I am very eager to see everyone send it on these transmissions and provide real world feedback!

I havent been posting many updates on social media or in this thread as its been all hands on deck getting these kits finished and out the door. Over the coming months my goal is to finish AWD test kits, ship those and then start another batch for official product launch/release in August/Sept. Research and development for several other transmission adapter kits and misc parts are also on the chopping block for the remainder of this year and into next year.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project, we are just getting started!

So i been out driving around with this 6hp28 trans and i love it so far. I used to drive in manual most of the time. I havent even tried it yet. I been in sport the entire time. Im still on a base ST tune and only boosting like 12psi right now. But im having a blast other than my tune is still really laggy. The kickdown is awesome . the shifts are lightening fast. The trans feels solid. I also did rsfb, revshift mounts, trans mounts and diff bushings at the same time so everything is different. But i gotta say im real happy with this conversion kit and tune so far. I will be doing alot of logging now for both trans tune and engine tune. But so far so good. Thanks Josh@Guru!!

has this kit been installed on an e60 yet?
Not yet, I have had several show interest but so far no E60s have pulled the trigger. It will work though and the only differences are some E-Shift vs M-Shift parts and the transmission mount bracket which I already have designs for.

If you're interested in being an early tester for E60 send me a message let's talk!

Pretty sure my friend Caleb is gonna be one of the first to have the 6hp28 in his 535xi. Can't wait to install it
I stand corrected, yes Caleb is the first 5 series! Luckily for him it uses the same AWD transfer case mount as the 335xi and he already has E-Shift setup so the donor X5 transmission doesnt need to be converted to M-Shift. The RWD 535i kits will require a different transmission mount bracket and they will have to convert their donor transmissions from M-Shift to E-Shift... or convert vehicle to M-Shift.

M-Shift and E-Shift have different parking/gear selector linkage pieces inside the transmission that are interchangeable. You also use the 065 E-Shift or 063 M-Shift valve body depending on application.
So more or less I would need your kit plus 2 transmissions, the appropriate e9x diesel trans and a V8 eshift e shift 5 or 7 series trans to get the valve body, park release linkage and parking pawl etc out of? Any clue if the eshift components from the 6hp21 will work, with exception of the valve body?

No not exactly...

You will use the 065 valve body from your original 6HP21 and you will use the EGS/TCU from the donor 335D 6HP28. Then transfer the E-Shift linkage components from your 6HP21 to the 6HP28... thereby converting it to E-Shift. There is also some coding involved. Shoot me a message if you want to chat.

So what is the cost for the custom parts to swap an 6HP28 into a 2008 335i? If I understand right I use the original valve body but the mechatronic controller from the 6HP28 right?

RWD can use the 6HP21 or 6HP28 #063 valve body and yes the EGS from diesel transmission.

All said and done not including labor you're looking at about $3500USD. This includes every single item needed to complete the installation; adapter kit, donor trans, Adrenaline fluid, new zf pan/filter/seals, EGS coding, custom trans tune, cooler lines etc.

Contact me directly we can chat in depth.

I wish I knew of this option a couple of months ago. My friend owns a transmission shop and even with him being VERY generous I spent over $7,000 and a month in hell. Against my friends strong recommendation I had my spare 6HP21 rebuilt with Precision Raceworks Kolene coated frictions that never shifted right, made noises and harshly clunked into drive. Then I made the mistake of buying a used 6HP21 that had been rebuilt with the same "racing frictions" that turned out to be already ruined by the prior owner. Finally my friend felt sorry for me, and offered free labor to rebuild my first transmission again with regular stock parts. The car drives great now and I am using XHP. But I KNOW with increased power my stock trans probably won't last too long. When that day comes soon, it looks like this is definitely the right option for me. This seems like the perfect solution. $3,500 is pretty cheap to have a OEM style solution to handle power. Trying to modify something that is not designed for high HP will never beat the reliability of a bigger transmission that was already designed to take that power. I guess you will be hearing from me eventually. I have already destroyed one differential and transmission so far.
