Please talk me through the current OEM fluid replacement for the N54 6MT (GS6-53BZ) in the 335i. Apparently I picked the wrong fluid once again for this stupid transmission, and Pentosin FFL-3 is for the N55 gearbox. :expressionless:

If you're going to tell me run Redline ATF please leave the thread. I will never run Redline again, made my shifts extremely notchy.

According to ZF documentation TE-ML 11, the approved lubricants are listed as the BMW PNs for MTF-LT1, MTF-LT2, and MTF LT-3:

My 2009 E90 has an LT3 sticker, the OEM MTF PN is 83222339221:

If I search for that PN, I get a few results. All of these have the 83222339221 PN in the listing:
Am I at least on the right track? If so which one of these do I use? I was gonna just buy whatever the dealer had but I am not spending a cool hundred bucks on 2 liters of MTF, that's ridiculous. Thanks

Liqui moly specially formulates it's products for each application (I.e. zf 6hp trans). Look into that.
Motul is also good.
Febi will be like o e.

pentosin ffl3 been working great in single digit temps

Did it help with the notchyness?

so far ive tried:

MTL
MTL+75W140NS (Called Redline and this is what i was told to try in 2017)
D4 ATF ( What Redline said to try after I brought up the notchy shifts)
D6 ATF (What redline said to use when i called in 2018 lol)

all notchy :/ D6 was OK in the 15 degree weather this morning, but nothing like the OEM fill was

I think notchiness is just the nature of the gearbox unfortunately. but with a properly bled clutch and FFL3 I notice it a lot less
