Nice! I also connected the amp power directly to the battery distribution through an OEM clip too. Very nice setup that way.

I've changed my mind since my last post. I decided to order a JL M600/6 which is the marine(Water resistent) version of the JL X600/6. This is a six channel amp, supplying 100w to each channel @ 2 ohms. This means I have to sell my 4 ohm SWS-8x and order a pair of 2 ohm SWS-8xi woofers. This means I'll only be able to send 100w to each under seat woofer instead of 150 like my XL X700/5 but I'll be able to keep the speakers in stereo in case I decide to swap them out for woofers that can do mid bass better than the SWS which are basically bass only woofers. Then I would get a mono amp and do a ski pass sub.

This is a good deal more expensive, but I figured why not. So for anyone who just wants more thump in their car, the JL X700/5 and SWS-8x are for sale, brand new unused: https://bmw.spoolstreet.com/threads/jl-xd700-5-amp-and-earthquake-sws-8x-4-ohm-woofer.2045/

I'm not done yet, I'm going to finish putting in the common modification options for each sound system and try to make it a linear progression based on what people are going to want to know. I'm going to finish the HiFi first, as that is what I have, which audio system does your car have?

Top HiFi, it's was great at first and now its just decent as I've been going down my "upgrade" list. Before my 335i, I had a e46 and I rattled that thing till death. Full kicker system with two 12s and two amps. I miss the bass, but I definitely dont want to go down the same road. I really hope the bavsound fits my ears.

How much is it?

it's been years but I want to say it was around a thousand or a little more. my cousin did the install so free labor. I purchased the subs, box and amps from bestbuy, they were a display unit. Doors/ rear deck speakers were bought new off amazon or ebay and so was the headunit.

While adding the amp to a shopping cart to see a final price of what the full system will cost, turns out the amp is not available for the 2007 BMW 3 Series Coupé with Premium (Top Hi-Fi) Audio System.

Stg 1 speakers and ghost subs, $1344 before tax. The amp would of ran another $9xx before tax

Pretty sure it would be cheaper to build your own by quite a bit? The only special sauce you get is their DSP settings I think?

Also the only differences I know if at mounting depths. The speakers they use in the kit may be too deep as the coupe doesn't have the deeper mounting depths like the sedan.
Code your car to HiFi, but the technic harness, buy an amp and maybe some underseat woofers and you'd be good unless you want more bass, in that case there are solutions for that too. What were you wanting to upgrade exactly? Overall sound quality or bass in particular? The logic 7 system is plenty loud in my opinion. Just lacks a little bass for those who like it to thump. For that you'd only need a LOC.

Do you have a specific amp in mind or recommend one. I am still planning to purchase the bavsound stg 1 and ghost woofers, but I am completely lost on the amp. I want to keep it as simple as plug and play. If all fails, I can contact bavsound and see what they would recommend.

Well as you know, you have to commit to an amp or speakers, usually. Without knowing the impedence or power handling of those speakers I couldn't really recommend much to you. You have logic 7, so you've got like 7 channels, if you want to maintain all of that, you'll need a 7 channel DSP like the MS-8, one more thing to worry about but some people really prefer having a DSP anyway. I'm not going to run one, as I'm not really an audiophile.

Also, if you are getting under seat woofers which have good mid bass, you'll want to keep them in stereo. If they are the sws-8's then you could get away with running them in mono and save a channel. Also, were you going to run a dedicated sub also?
