Hey guys, I created a Tumblr build thread but a few people asked me to do one here so here goes.

I have built many cars. Mostly muscle but I love classic bugs and I've even done a couple turbo hondas... Hell, I've had more cars than years of life. I actually wanted a 1er since late 2012 but things didn't fall into place until August of 2016. This time once the clouds aligned I was seriously looking for my a 135 with a N54 for about 3 months when I met Sam (my name for the car).

These are the pictures that the previous owner used in his add.

The car was a great find! It was a one owner car that was meticulously maintained by a pilot. He bought the car as a toy and he kept it under cover in his hanger. It never saw rain and was always maintained at BMW of Dallas where he purchased it. With the car I recieved all of his service records that are so detailed they include when his windshield wipers were replaced. I also recieved the books etc that came with the car.

Like I always do, I researched and had a plan before I bought the car. The car will be a single turbo car but I am taking my time getting there. My goal is to slowly build up the rest of the in preparedness and not do any mods that will not work with a single turbo.

So, with that being said... my first mod was the bms DCI. I know, I can't use that on the single but I had to get rid of the dinan intake...

As you can see, I also removed the cowel for a cleaner, less crowded engine bay. The weight savings help too.

Next it was time for a jb4. I love the features the jb4 has. Within a month I loaded in an MHD BACK END flash so I could engage the anti lag and I started messing with an e40 mix.

Now it was time to take Sam to the track to see what kinds of times I could get. Not bad for the little mods I had. I am in the left lane.

After a month or so at my buddy's shop I got Sam back. During the down time I acquired some new eibachs and bilstiens. I also picked up some M&H Racemaster Drag radials and painted the factory wheels.

After more fun with tuning and getting used to the drag radials it was time for a road trip to a track my buddy rented for the day.

Well the drag radials did their job. My efforts at tuning were good but not good enough. I was going into safe mode right after the eighth mile. I was over taxing my low pressure fuel pump. Not bad though.

Next up... a fuel it stage 2 bucketless pump upgrade. This was an easy upgrade that I highly recommend

Time to upgrade the exhaust. I like the BMW pe exhaust but I wanted a more aggressive tone. So Berk it is.
On a side note the BMW exhaust is for sale

So... After only 1800 miles my drag radials were showing cords. Time to rethink my tire set up.

I decided that I would go with an aggressive street tire thats has a wider footprint for traction on the street and I would invest in some drag radials for when I'm racing.

How much did you sell the Dinan intake for? To be honest, I think that is one of the better pieces they make for our cars that people actually purchased. I'm pretty sure the Mr. 5 intake was modeled after it, since it actually had performance gains.

I sold it for $750. It paid for the jb4 and a few other things

Awesome build! I got my 135i a few months back and havent had a chance to do anything. Im hoping to start doing the basic mods first. You are still running stock rims but drags instead?
