i have a few extra heat exchangers at my work that I may be able to get for free from my bosses. See photo. The first one stainless tubing with copper fins, the second is copper tubing with aluminum fins.they have roughly the same amount of tubing going through the fins area. I think the stainless one has more surface area, but stainless is a very poor heat conductor... I can probably get two of each as well if it would be worth running two heat exchangers.

Also I live in Colorado, so it doesn't get crazy hot here. I was considering painting either of these black as well to prevent any oxidation on the copper. Car is manual, 335xi, installing GC lites soon.

No, but I don't think I've seen any of the typical setups state their heat extraction capabilities to have a reference point to compare... i might be able to get them though, but again I don't know what to compare the numbers to.

There are published BTU ratings on some of the more well known brands, but I agree there is not much information available. Main problem is there are so many ways to skin this cat and none of them are perfect.

There's a T-stat on the OEM trans heat exchanger. I bet if it was deleted / lower threshold and ran on a 190 coolant setting if temps would peg at 190. Wouldn't be too bad for the econo plus guys (not insinuating you're in that demo Reap, just thinking outloud).

I actually got a 25 row setup so not going to use these. i think I'd need about four of these to work well and that's a lot of work to weld these all together, and then be left with a meh setup...

Those are pretty sweet, I may look into that's down the road but I live in Colorado. And this isn't going to be road raced or anything, just daily driver with some stomping here and there. Once summer rolls Arnold we'll see how the oil temps are doing and see if this is needed.
