Christ this is cool! Sorry if you mentioned it already, do you have a plan to get the electronics working nicely with the new powerplant?
Using a dakota digital can bus converter for the tach. Speedo and fuel level will work on their own. Same with ABS. The oil temp sensor is in the BMW level sensor and I’m going to tap the holley pan for it when I tap the oil return.

Got the Ford 8.8 mounted for driveshaft and axle measurements. Also started working on a custom manifold. The original design I planned to use wasn’t able to clear the steering column. This one will be tighter in towards the block and will use a different merge style.

Shipment arrived from Ace today and I got the passenger side manifold started. I’m using a 304 2” schedule 40 pipe with 1.5” schedule 10 long radius elbows. Gonna put a merge on the bottom of the log for the crossover pipe to connect to. It’s coming along nicely.

Haven't posted up here in a while but I've slowly been getting this pile together. Lot of pulling and installing the engine to get clearance checks for different parts. Been posting video updates to the YouTube channel. Driveshaft is here and axles should be in this week. Finishing the turbo manifold this week and I'll be ready for the final installation. Still need to get the cable throttle installed too.

Looks awesome man. Any plans to build a kit?
Thanks man. Yes a kit is getting planned but I'm not sure how "plug and play" this swap would be. The brackets and manifold would be easy to replicate. But I'm converting to a cable throttle and nobody has been able to get AC to work yet without the DME picking up a tach signal. Lot of other custom pieces needed too like a new coolant reservoir with heater core ines, AC compressor lines, potentially an oil cooler, standalone traction control system, ect. My car is probably getting stripped for a cage and buckets and I'll be using a digital dash.

Try pinging these guys, should help with the AC and dash...

Yeah it would be amazing to have a V8 swap kit that allowed for dash, radio, AC etc. Probably not a reality to build a DD like this.

Out of that list the only two that currently wouldn't work are the tach and AC. Radio, fuel level, ABS and speedo all work fine. AC just won't work without the DME receiving a tach signal

Why did you go with a cable throttle?
Mostly for simplicity. But also because a Holley dominator to run a drive by wire throttle costs twice what a Holley HP does. And the only real difference between the two is the DBW and trans control. I didn't need either so I converted to DBC.

Haven't been posting a lot but I finished the turbo hot parts and the engine is installed with the transmission, driveshaft, and differential. Axles are getting ready to go in and I'm putting the core support back on. After the radiator is hooked up this thing is ready for startup. I made a bracket for the throttle pedal and its mounted in the factory position and works well.
