I'd like to start by talking a little about the OTS maps: Stage 1,2,3

Stage 1 is based on the Alpina file and sports most of the things people know from the Alpina flash. The most noticeable thing changed is the Warmup behaviour. Whereas the Alpina sometimes shifts quite harsh, this flash smooths things out by leaving the TCC completely open in Gear 1 - 4. This helps, to speed up warmup of the trans and removes some harshness on shifts. Those transmissions are all together old now with a lot of miles, so things that where perfect when new, now may not be as such anymore. When everythings cold, these things show up the most. Kickdown is removed in S/M mode and some minor issues with the Sport Mode and the rev-counter are solved. Besides from that, this is the flash to go for people wanting OEM software, but don't want to play around with WinkFP etc.

Stage 2 has pretty much any area changed. From Torque Converter control (warm, cold, slip control) over all Shiftmaps (D/S/M, uphill, downhill driving, Warmup, Hotmode) to the TQ reductions and clutch timings in shift transitions. This map reflects, (IMHO) how a proper Transmission setup should look like. The driving experience is more like with a Manual transmission. Kickdown is removed in D/S/M. Very low TC slip (only when really necessary), proper RPM/TQ ratios to make use of the N54/N55 rev-range and extremely fast gear shifts in M mode. Rev range is extended to 7200 RPM, TQ Limiters are upped to 516 lbft (700 Nm).

Stage 3 builds on Stage 2 and adds True Manual Mode (no upshift at Engine Limiter), further upped 737 ftlb (1000 Nm) torque limiters and a 10% Line Pressure increase. Additionally this Stage is planned as a Map Pack, with several versions to accomodate various driver styles and it will be the first to get further developments like throttle blips in D mode, multi downshifts on braking in corners etc.

All this information is preliminary and subject to change during the Beta Phase!

Just flashed my E90 N54 successfully (before that i had alpina tcu sw).
I'm now on Stage 2. First impression. OMG!
I love it! Extensive test will follow tomorrow.

Some Flashadvice: Make sure to disconnect the current fuse for the fuel pump.
While the flash (the install and the flash itself) the fuel pump is working unnecessary.
You can safe some amps when your charger isn't that strong.

Awesome, post a video! I'll see if I can't get a charger this evening.

are any of you using a custom dme tune. I'm on custom wedge e60. saw somewhere it might work better using the MT option but that's only offered for ots mhd tunes

im keen to get this going and i know its nothing drastic just want someone to chime in, i am having an issue on install, it connects, backs up but get the following error:
j0y7pv.png

do i need to re-code the EGS(TCU)>CAS to fix this issue?
or could it be that i updated the TCU on a stage 1 gearbox with updated TCU that is capable, and is referring to the original TCU's hardware number rather then the new when trying to flash?

I was kind of wondering the reasoning behind that myself.

does your stage 2 feel slower than alpina. mine does. like a decent delay when I hit the paddle to hit 4th at wot vs the Alpina was instant. I'll do a better test tom.

In general, or only under WOT? At what Rev-Range?

Read the manual, as stated in the E-Mail. ;) Ask Wedge to change the TQ scaling.

What I forgot to mention in the E-Mail: All those running big power, will very likely have way off Adaption values now. I won't advise anybode to clear them, but it can take some time, until they return to normal. Therefore the Setups can immediately feel a little jerky. Drive around for 50 - 100 miles, before you judge finally.

In meantime you can also try DCT (afaik the tq scaling on dct is like stock).

I was able to drive 10 km to my workplace with the new flash (only D mode, M mode will be tested this evening).
The shiftpoints in D are superb. What i recognized was, that if the gearbox is changing gears at low rpm (<2100 rpm) on the first 5 km the shifts were physically noticeable. It's like a slight bump in your seat while changing the gear.
I kind of liked it. Gives you the ZF 8HP Feeling in sportmode.
But after these 5 km the shifts get better. Smoother.
Is this a feature or are these only adaptions working on?
Are you resetting the adapations after the flash?

BTW: I'm running my own custom map. Tq scaling is stock

EDIT: Haha okay, you were quite faster :D
I think i won't clear my adaptions because it gets better after only 5 km :)

In general: DO NOT clean your adaptions, unless you changed hardware or overhauled the transmission! That can lead to pretty akward behaviour on old transmission!

I've just installed stage 1 OTS flash.
everything went straight forward: backup, install, flash... no issue.
I pulled the low pressure fuel pump fuse, to be sure not getting battery issue, during the whole process.

I took maybe a little more time than advised.

first upshifts in D mode in warmup mode were not good, jerky.
it was better after few miles. tried also S and M modes. no issue.

Only thing , in D mode, kickdown is too aggressive.
for ex, cruising in 6th around 1500-2000 rpm, I push a bit more the pedal, it immediately downshift in 4th, not good for stage 1 D-mode.
I'm not using stock throttle maps, though.
I'll try today with stock throttle tables, stock torque tables, then I'll try higher torque tables, as JB4 users build more boost than what DME targets, so it will better reflect the real torque produced by the engine.

As being a N54/N55 tuner, could you confirm me torque limiter in 5th is raised even in stage 1 flash ?
If so, which value ?
for stage 2 flash, we shouldn't target more 516 lbft (700 Nm) in the DME flash, right?
and for stage 3, 737 ftlb (1000 Nm) is the hard limit in the DME flash, so there is virtually no tcu torque limiter at all.

Thx for feedback! If you're going from 6th to 4th in that rev range you need to go over 47% throttle, which is quite a lot of travel with the stock setup. Forgot to mention that...the downshift tables are changed on Stage 1 compared to Alpina, because lot's of guys complaining about Alpina kind of "never" downshifting. Let's look what the other guys are saying.

TQ Limiter: Confirmed.

Stage 1: 600 Nm in all Gears. Should be in the Map description in the App!
Stage 2: Stay below 700 Nm, yes.
Stage 3: Yes, thats the hard limit on the TCU too.

Ok so my feedback about stage 1 with stock throttle maps in the DME :
D mode is approx. the same than alpina D mode. main cons is too low shiftpoints.
It definitely deserves a better D-mode for stage 1.
kickdown is too aggressive (it downshift from 6 to 4 really easily) when you're not bone stock or Xi.

S mode is really good, almost perfect to me.

Now let's play with stage 2 flash.

For Stage 2 the D-Mode is a big improvement to alpina sw.
But i noticed, that on low throttle from 0 mph/kmh the tcc is opened again too long like on alpina (100 degrees celsius oil temp).
Here is a video:

Also my TCU lost its coding, so my paddles don't work.
Need to code them again.
Apart from the coding thing and the opened tcc at low throttle i didn't notice any bad behaviour. When you're cruising in 5th at 1800 rpm i need a little bit too much throttle input to make the gearbox do a downshift (maybe 5% less throttle input would help here). Anyway it's way better then alpina.

At WOT i think the shifts are equal or slightly faster then alpina.
My throttle mapping is stock up to 40% pedal input.
After that it's more linear.
