Hey guys, here at VTT we have been painfully aware of the relatively poor choices for motor mount upgrades for the N5X platform for quite a while. While there are some options on the market, they are either A. Expensive, B. simply do not fit well, C. Have harsh NVH and road manners, or D. a combo of all of the above. What we decided to do, is do what BMW does for their own factory race cars (Except BMW wants $150 each). That is instead of completely replacing the mount, simply make a billet aluminum insert for them. This leaves the feel of the factory mount in place but stiffens them up quite a bit removing unwanted engine movement without rattling your teeth out or emptying your wallet.

We have made two styles, and using a combo of both they fit the chassis line up across the board - N54, N55, and S55, N20 and most B58 engines!

We found on the N54 after install with the stock idle level you will feel an increase of NVH at idle which goes way when driving, but a simple idle increase to 800-900RPM with MHD gets rid of this for a near-stock feel at idle. Shifts are incredibly crisp with no engine movement, and you get more of a sense of a planted feel.

Install is simple, remove your mounts, install these using either a rubber mallet or soft blow hammer, or light press, and reinstall your mounts. We also offer Ready to install mount kits for even less work, and if your stock mounts are in need of replacement. These include Inserts pre-installed into a set of Aftermarket N54 mounts and preinstalled into a set of OEM mounts.

Pricing is as follows:
  • N54, E/F N55, N20, B58 Both Billet inserts $149.99
  • S55 Both Billet inserts $149.99
  • N54/ E-Series N55 Both billet inserts + New aftermarket mounts $269.99
  • N54 / E-Series N55 Both inserts + New Genuine OEM mounts $369.99
  • F-Series N55/B58 Both inserts + New aftermarket mounts $299.99
  • F-Series N55/B58 Both inserts + New OEM mounts $399.99
  • F8X S55 Both inserts + new OEM mounts $399.99
Can be ordered here: https://vargasturbo.com/product/vtt-n54-n55-s55-n20-b58-billet-motor-mount-inserts/

100 sets in stock ready to ship. (if ordered with a complete mount kit may take an extra 1-2 days before shipping)

HELL YEAH

VTT you are just knocking it out of the park with awesome parts and addons for these engines and chassis. This is cool!

I *JUST* bought a 335is mount and cheap driver side mount to replace my RevShift... lol

Curious to see feedback on these. Mainly how much they amplify the SMFW chatter. Looks like they will be a great solution!

We tested these on a car with SMFW, idle it up to 900-950. No chatter, no NVH at idle. Leave it at stock idle then it's quite harsh. Tony very sensitive to NVH and he drove the car around a bunch after we put these in to see if he thought they were viable. He reported with idle turned up he could hardly tell a difference vs stock, and they're very comfortable. Keep in mind NVH is somewhat subjective -what one finds normal, another may find unbearable, but as I said, he is pretty sensitive, and he found them comfortable. 🤷‍♂️

I want a set. What OEM brand mounts are you guys installing these in?

Thanks for a great product that's been much needed.

OE supplier is specific supplier to BMW for a given specific part. For the standard N54 motor mounts I believe that is Corteco, if I recall.

OEM it means that the manufacturer makes some part for some model of the car by the brand. So for example if XYZ co makes the left hand door switch for one Mercedes GLK model then XYZ co can say they are an OEM to Mercedes.

Hope that right by recollection. 😁

It's all semantics, I got the answer I needed.

For those who care:
OE = Original Equipment = BMW branded
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer = Lemforder/Febi/Corteco/Meyle/Mahle/etc etc etc. Usually one of these is the official manufacturer for BMW and others are simply manufacturing for the aftermarket under limited license or something similar.

I guess it depends on who you ask. I always assumed

Genuine: BMW branded
OE= Original Equipment (the manufacturer that made the factory part for BMW. Bosch- coils, TRW-suspension arms , Elring- gaskets etc.)
OEM= Original Equipment Manufacturer. Makes parts for some type of auto manufacturer.

FCP seems to list it this way as well.

When we say OEM. We mean they are ordered and come directly from BMW in a BMW box. Aftermarket, for the most part, is Corteco, and they come in a Corteco box. The BMW mounts may very well be Corteco, no idea. But we know from experience some people feel better ordering stuff that comes from BMW for their BMW. Its why its an option. If you don't care, get the aftermarket. Its not rocket Science

Take one for the team so I know if I need to buy. A week ago and this would have been the solution I went with. Now with that $300 IS mount just staring at me, I'm not sure if this would be too much (vs standard fluid MM + insert)

I have new revshift mounts on my bench too. I'll try to sell them I guess. Going with standard MM and inserts.

Edit: we'll see how these go in. Got a set coming.

hahahahaha.

I'd opt to do a single side like this, such as the driver side but not sold on doing both after the RevShift vibration hell. I am doing away with poly mounts and my camber plates as well... I am trying to tone it down a little bit so I can take the car on long trips without bashing my teeth in on expansion joints.

There were experiments with OEM and a RevShift mix... I wonder how a single side 'insert' would go? @Chris@VargasTurboTech is this a crazy idea?
