Wow, great write up! I wish I had your "mad build skills"! I farm most of my work out to a local shop :-( . Keep us updated as to the long term reliability of those MMP's. I'm hearing negative comments from a few members of our local BMW club regarding the stage 3's.

I haven't had any issues at all with my turbos. Everything else has been hit or miss as you probably read. I would post about if they failed but it would probably void the warranty.

Well on a spur of the moment decision I sold half of the car. Specially my ER FMIC, N54 Tuning DPs, MMP turbos, inlets, and outlets. I have the new PSP 900 intercooler preordered and I have a new route that I plan to go for boost next season. More to come in the next couple months.

Yes sir. But I'm going to fabricate my own kit. Not for production, just for my car. Been wanting to do it for a while and I finally have all the tools I've been needing.

What kind of manifold design will you be going for?

Originally I wanted to make a ramhorn downward T4 divided but after seeing how little real estate there really is in that area I'm going to do a top mount T4 divided and run a GTW 6265. I'm using 321 stainless for the manifold and 304 for the exhaust. I'll also be making a V band 3.5" turbo back and getting rid of the stock dual 2.5".

Since I'm also not going to be producing them and dont want to spend the money on mandrel bends I'll be using 9* pie cuts to save some money. It wont really save me any time though but since I'm not trying to sell them and I have 6 months to make one kit it doesn't bother me

Are you looking for top end power or spool more? You'd probably save yourself a ton of time and hassle by just making a cheap and easy log manifold.

So my current power goal is 7-800 at the wheels. I thought about going with a log manifold after seeing the steed manifold that CES posted. I even emailed CES and John up here on spoolstreet to see if they would be willing to sell the prototype but I didn't get a response for either.

I bet they are waiting to get the ces kit together first. For $1400 kind of hard not to go with something that nice.

good stuff man! I was pretty close to building a single turbo manifold out of 2 stock turbo manifolds but stuck with MMP's. A couple suggestions on doing your own manifold; its worth the extra cash to try to find a scrap/trashed head to use as a jig, and a diamond tipped miter saw blade helps a ton when doing multiple cuts and is way cleaner than the black aluminum grain

Thanks for the tips. My plan for the jig is to grab a sheet of mild steel and cut it to replicate the head and then weld on a bar and mount a plate where the T4 flange will bolt up to replicate turbo placement. Then I can bolt it down to my welding table and flip it around if necessary to hit different angles. I'm buying the VTT CNC stainless manifold so making a negative off that shouldn't be too difficult.

Made a bit more progress. Mostly on my fabrication shop. But I have a few new car bits too. My new aluminum coolant flange and ACF flapper delete showed up last week. And a whole bunch of my new tools including a bandsaw, drill press, belt sander, and a new Milwaukee drill. I went out and bought a bunch of steel too and built a new welding table yesterday. I have some new parts getting started this next week. More to come soon.

Nice table! I've been eyeing that AlphaTig for a while - how do you like it? It has a ton of features for the price. I've only done a little Tig and my teacher made me use a stick welder with scratch start, so an Alpha would completely spoil me. Can't wait to see how your manifold turns out. Great build thread.

Thanks man. I love the AlphaTIG. For the price it cant be beat. Especially seeing that any other miller or lincoln model that can use the same features is well into the $2k range. I used it to TIG the whole table yesterday and it didn't skip a beat.

Can’t wait to see more of this. I’ll be buying a tig welder soon and begin building my own manifold as well. Very excited about the process and stoked to see your progress through this. Please keep us posted bro!

I emailed Anthony at AC Fabrication too and didn't hear back about the downward manifold he is designing either.

I got a response from Anthony on his bottom kit. There's a couple tweeks he is making which is holding the release up.

@Payam gave me some pics and said he and Terry would be testing 2 ACF bottom mount EFR cars on 11/09/2017 on the Dyno. I need to hit Payam up again and see if they now feel comfortable sharing info.

The kit that has the most potential but the least amount of progress is the CES/Steed kit...I'm in the situation of waiting till Feb to buy my new turbo setup so I might get some feedback from them before then.

And finally Tony has his secret new GC update/upgrade coming for this winter....not likely to keep me from going single, but Tony has always had well thought out products that really perform.
