So more progress was made today. I got the new tie rods in the mail today and got them installed in about an hour and ran to the alignment shop. Also opened up the plug gap to .022. For the first time this year the car is running without any significant issues! I had some issues this past week with low fuel pressure after the fuel pressure regulator was installed. Turns out the hobbs switch wasn't activating because I had it in map 2 while I was testing the car out and it wasn't holding 15 psi early enough. So I ordered a new ATP adjustable hobbs switch that I'm going to set to 12 psi so the second pump kicks on a bit earlier. Here is my datazap account in case anyone is interested in viewing my logs.

Hopefully AJ and I can get this tune finalized this weekend after a nearly year long build. My steering wheel is still off about 1/2" to the right and after thinking about it I think my steering rack might have got spun around when I dropped the subframe and is a couple splines off. I'm going to pull apart the universal joint on the steering column and move it a couple teeth over to try to straighten everything out. All in all though, progress.

I used to drink "Leines" when I was in school in Minnesota. I see you're in the upper Midwest as well.
Nice! But you better hurry - you'll have to store your 135i soon when the snow comes.

My goal was to have the tuning completed before it starts to snow next month. This winter the goal is to drop the rear subframe and install DDS axles, M3 control arms all around, solid subframe bushings, solid diff bushings, and potentially the new MMP manifolds and MMP FMIC if its done in time.

And Leines isn't my 1st choice but it was what the store had. I will drink any Octoberfest till they dont sell them anymore. By far my favorite beer. After the season is over I'll go back to Killians till next September.

great build thread. and I had to cast my vote in the poll under the "I dont care as long as its cheap" option.

Cheaper beer = more race car parts.

especially when your a college student lol

More updates. I have been playing around with the duty bias tuning on the JB4 to help make my boost hit target more accurately. I was opening the wastegate about 1 psi under target at 3500 and then overboosting to almost 32 psi when targeting 28 psi. After about 20 minutes and 6 logs I was able to get the boost almost right on target from 3500-7000. I still have a bit of oscillation around 4500 that I'm going to work on smoothing out before I raise the boost target and start working on my 30 psi map. Blue line in the logs is WGDC by the way.

Looks quick! I'm surprised at how little timing you're able to get out of it on full e85 and still see some pretty major drops though. Have you tried playing with fueling / vanos?

I've seen the timing drops as well. My first goal was to get the PR coils and full E85. I think my next plan of action is dropping IATs with a new FMIC and possibly a bit of meth and switching to a 2 step colder plug.

What are you using for your tablet mount?

So its been a while since my last update but here is where I'm at. My main goal right now is to address the timing pulls on cylinders 2&5. So what my plan is currently is a PCV delete fitting running into a OCC and venting into the rear inlet, plug the PCV ports in the head, new plugs, and larger FMIC. My season is pretty much done for here in ND so its time to roll right into the winter build. Besides all of the timing related parts my goal for the winter is to make the car more drivable. Right now with the stock resr subframe bushings and control arms the car is all over the road when doing gear pulls. I'm going to get aluminum rear subframe and differential bushings as well as M3 front and rear control arms to try to help out. I also already have a set of MFactory axles that will be going on the car after the subframe is dropped out. Should be another long winter. Just picked up a new TIG welder too so I have a couple plans in the making that I might start this winter too.
