Hey all, this was a passing thought I just had, but whats the highest WHP and WTQ you have seen on stock turbos, and 93 octane only!?

I heard of a guy with a Z4 35i who had 2" inlets and FBO hit 424WHP / 503WTQ !!! Those are some pretty insane numbers to me for just 93 octane only.

I dynoed 380/421 on an MHD OTS stage 2+ map at 18.2 PSI, however I just got my car custom tuned and it pulls much much harder, and peaks around 19-20 PSI. I'll probably change the set up in a few months (inlets, e85 gas station being built near me, etc) so I dont know If Ill bother to dyno, but im still really curious what's the best Stock turbo, 93 octane numbers you have heard?

With 93, 424whp is pretty impressive. I've been told (m)ethanol is necessary to break 450whp because turbos are nearly maxed and you can't safely advance timing without upping octane. I hope 500whp is possible on stockers with (m)ethanol/c16.

Those are the best numbers I am aware of, from BQ I think IIRC. Does the dyno tell the whole story? Did we get logs and know what the temp/DA was? How would that car run in a 1/2 mile or through multiple gear changes say 2nd to 6th?

Most people end up around 400/450 on 93, give or take.

It's an impressive number but I think most will agree it's more of a glory run. 400/450 is VERY respectable for a car you can buy for sub 10k, and invest 1k in parts. Best bang for your buck I am aware of. It's the damn maintenance that gets you ;)

Anyone thinking about meth just do it. Small money, good results.

I tried to make it unequivocal as I could. I do not believe in dyno glory runs. All my tuning is done on the street, then taken to a Dyno to get some results, and to perhaps see where else needs improvements.

DA was in tipple digits at the time of the dyno which is considered the winter season here in South Florida. Double digit DA or -DA lasts less than two weeks in cumulative days.

One thing for sure though I think of myself as being extremely thorough when it comes to authenticating, and documenting stuff like this. This was over a year ago and Im pretty sure Im putting down more power than last year on 93 octane with less boost.

Dyno has everything possible you would want to see from ambient temps, date, time, and boost

Here a log of one of the runs http://datazap.me/u/buraq/bq93-zilla...29&zoom=49-104 It could have used a lil bit more fuel in the mid which I did implement later on in the revisions.

I also videotaped as proof that we were on straight pump 93 octane gas to counter naysayers

Couple months later when it got really hot I had to back boost down to 19 PSI. Here is the vbox when it was 93°f ambient temps at almost 2000 DA from what I recalled.

Here is a local 1M that is my model 1M car and its still on COBB, and runs nothing but 93 octane.

Logs of the 410 whp https://datazap.me/u/zayzay/logs-new-afe-intake?log=0&data=2-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-20

Here is the video on the Dyno as we were doing some intake testing between old and new aFE CAI

Pretty much all my custom tuned 93 Octane N54 with FBO make over 400 whp.

BQ I'd like to get in touch with you about tuning my car. Just put pure stage 1 turbos in with inlets and outlets and new rod bearings. I only like to use 93 oct because it's a daily.

You ride those knock sensors, ride them like a cheap hooker all the way to fuel cut!

This is still a thing? Pushing stock turbos within an inch of their life for numbers, now it's a thing to do it on pump gas on the edge of detonation. One knock event away from a broken ringland. This guy will be posting about a blown motor shortly... On pump gas ALWAYS leave a safety margin. ALWAYS

Don't worry tony I know how to read a log I see the timing drops I'd obviously ask him to keep it lower if it means no timing drops. I might also grab a 25 gal of VP race gas around and put two gallons in my tank every fill up.
Anyways good day to you

At the price of VP race gas, wouldn't using torco be a more cost effective option and probably higher octane?

hahah relax guys. Ive been in the process with my custom tuner on dialing everything in. After logs we are turning it down a bit. I still think Ill be over the 380/421 that I laid down on the OTS map and have cleaner logs at the same time. My car is being street tuned not dyno tuned.

Also, not sure if this really even matters but I have pretty damn good bolt ons, 7inch HD core FMIC + completely catless 3.5" exhaust from BMR. I think my car breathes a bit better than a typical FBO car with a 5inch or regular 7 inch FMIC and stock axleback / sport axelback.

An e85 gas station is currently being built 10-15 mins from me. Once its in buisness, Ill be adding Inlets, Outlets, Fuel pump, and 335is clutch + SMFW in hopes of reaching 450WHP/500WTQ on an e40-e60 blend on a relatively safe tune if possible.

I was just simply curious what numbers people were getting on our 93 on stock turbos

No Tony, its still not a thing and it never was a thing as far as I am aware of. This was back in Jan 2016, on "our E89 Z4 R&D car" in which I did turn the boost up on this car, and on this car only, when DA and temps dropped, and then dropped boost back down when the weather started to heat up on 93 US Octane fuel. Your inlets and outlet are on our R&D car that put these numbers down with factory knock tables unaltered, knock sensors unaltered, with EGT Nox table stock. People are forgetting this is a E89 Z4 that runs better turbo efficiency than any other N54 car because of its intake system.

"Today" of 2017 there is no more need to push that much boost on 93 US octane as it makes more power now with less boost @ 19 PSI due to better efficiency https://datazap.me/u/buraq/bq93-z4?log=0&data=3-4-5-7-8-9-10-11-22-26-29&zoom=33-123

Also the 1M, our model car and entrusted to me by a friend, makes 410 whp with your outlet and inlets @ 18 psi on 93 US octane fuel still on COBB (log was posted). Notice the video I posted is about CAI testing, not a dyno tuning run to see how much power we can get out of the car. Im not even in the car, Im the one holding the camera.

You think a 335is clutch will hold 500 wtq?
from my research definately! @suspenceful Had a 335is clutch and SMFW, holding around 500 WTQ if not a little more for I think around 20K miles with no issues if im not mistaken. Also some people have pushing into the mid 550 range. There was just a thread about this a week or so ago where @[email protected] said he was been pushing 550 WTQ for 20K miles on the 335is clutch.

Yeah I wouldn't trust that clutch imo with your goals.

Stock replacement or with simple bolt ons sure. Do what you want but I would suggest a real upgrade.
