I couldn’t really find any threads about running the high lift cams. Has anyone been running them for awhile that can tell me about driveability and possibly send me some videos? I’m about to pull the trigger but just wanted some second opinions.
That’s pretty much what I was looking for thank you! How do they sound? I’m sure amazing I just wish I could find a video.Been running the high lifts on my customer car and it drives just like stock, but its still being run in.
Cant tell you much outside of drivability.
the high lifts can be run withy the high lifts
Gotcha I was trying to decide if low lift or high lift were worth it it’s a tough callThere was some discussion here, some time back, about low-lift vs high-lift. Supposedly one can run stock valvetrain with low-lift (which is what I intend to do, as 600whp is end target for me, no more). There was some debate on this subject (if stock valvetrain can be run); supposedly Schrick says so. High-lift, it's a complete Ferrea valvetrain upgrade.
Ok awesome I’m doing the head for sure now I just need to figure out which camsI think it is if you have a high flowing head. Then just decide if you want to spend on the valve train.
That’s what I’m going through right now trying to pick when it’s time to draw the line but I’m feeling like the cams valve train head is the last step. I’m with you I wanted to do it so I could turn down the boost for more longevity while still making 600+In my case I needed to pick a place to stop. My predominant reason for porting and running the cams was to be able to hit my targets with less PSI. so it's also about what you're trying to achieve I suppose.

I can share my logic, FWIW. What I found on this platform (and is probably common for turbo platforms?) is that people come at this as a power first view. I'm much more focused on the overall capability of the car. When it comes back to power, for me 600whp is kind of the sweet spot - probably about as much as can be well-handled by suspension (with mods), and IMHO about right for reliable performance if the car is set up right (again my opinion). Well within the window of what the bottom end can do, and now achievable with LPFP upgrade, Motive flex fuel with larger fuel line, and the PFS POD overdrive for the HPFP (no PI, meth, etc). With a good set of TD04 twins (or if one's jam is a single), and on eMix (which most of us have access to), seems like the money ticket.Ok awesome I’m doing the head for sure now I just need to figure out which cams

Happy to help out where needed on my experiences. Still working out gremlin vac leaks which with my spare time and only one car is taking forever so it's not done.I can share my logic, FWIW. My head was ported by Tony Salloum at VAC Motorsport, and he also did the valve job on their new CNC valve machine. I just got the head back. My route - I bought a head off eBay, and shipped directly to him. They ran through it, cleaned it. resurfaced, checked it out, then ported, did the valve job, installed the stock valves/springs, and sent it back to me along with a Cometic head gasket (a bit of insurance is never bad). We'll install the Schrick low-lift cams, finish the head, and I hope this drops 3-5psi versus a stock head trying to hit those numbers. If I pinched myself, I would like to see 600whp in an 18-20psi range. I can dream, can't I?
IMHO there is a bunch of suspension work I'd want to do on that wagon, to get it to handle with the juice. And I'd also want to do the brake system.
Are you doing a custom exhaust? I'm just guessing there isn't anything off the shelf for this application, at least past the downpipes ...
Filippo
p.s. Your other option on the TD04/head combo is N53 head with Hydra 800's. @ShocknAwe went this route, so he can talk about that if you are interested. That can be packaged up and supplied by Omar @ HydraPerformance - it requires some minor machining to the N53 head and a custom exhaust manifold.
Funny i have the same setup coming in, except that i went for the low lift Shrick cams.Just for a quick update after a lot of back and forth I decided to do the hp800s with the n53 head the achieving high flow cams and the titanium valve train. I’m way too excited to get this thing all buttoned up!
Sick man well match haha I went for the high lift mostly because I wanted to redo the valve train anyway and figured why the hell not at that pointFunny i have the same setup coming in, except that i went for the low lift Shrick cams.
