My most recent modification was a little crazy but I feel it is needed with the top mount turbo. I bought some trackspec heat extraction vents and cut into my hood. I am happy with the finished product.

Nice vents. Does it come with some kind of finish for the underside of the hood?

Yeah, its no big deal anyway. On my other 335 I bought a CF hood that had a nice, finished underside. Long story short, I broke that hood and ordered another one. Not finished on the under side at all. Still looked fine outside, so my point is the underside isn't a huge deal unless you like to show your car.

I thought Jerry "claimed" to fix those issues, lol. I ordered my hot parts pieces in December of 15, my hood clearance is off by a bit, but luckily I run a 5862 small ST so it still closes enough to be acceptable until the budget allows a VM manifold. And yeah, that front wastegate flange, that's a pure joke.

Really looking Forward to see results from the GT35....Garrett is the one which is used most of the time here in Germany.

Did you had an 3.46 Diff or did you Change the Ratio? If yes, why? I will install an LSD in the beginning of next year, too and i am thinking about replacing my 3.08 with 3.46...My Setup is Stage 2 Twins comparable to Pure Stage 2 High Flow.

I am looking forward to seeing the power curve with the Garrett too. I just feel they are a better quality turbo than some of the others. The gear ratio is oem. The stock auto transmission ratio is 3.46.

PTE 5862 or 6870, they're the same frame size. Just like the Garrets as well, the only diff with Garret is a slightly beefier exhaust housing.

So from bottom of the exhaust flange to top of compressor housing is exactly the same length on the 5862 and the 6870?

Yes, if you keep all the specs the same. EX: Ported S cover, T4 Divided with 3" Vband discharge. The only diff would be the AR ratios, as PTE does not make a 1.00AR for the 62 exhaust wheel IIRC. So if you got a .84AR on both the 5862 and the 6870, they should be exact, however obviously not interchangeable because of wheel sizes.

How do you think I was able to test all these different turbo's on my VM Top mount? ;) I feel like I might be forgetting some, oh well.

Comp 6465 .84AR
Comp 6465 1.00AR
Comp 6771 .84AR
Comp 6767 .84AR
PTE 6466 1.00AR
PTE 6870 .84AR
PTE 6266 1.00AR

Got the manifold, wastegates, oil line, water return, wastegate dump tubes, and Hard vacuum lines installed today. Waiting on a new fitting for water feed and I can wrap up the turbo lines. I will get the downpipe and both O2 sensors on tomorrow. Took the time to wrap everything in heat tape just in case. Any other advice for rest of the install? IMG_4900.JPGIMG_4902.JPG

Got the manifold bolted up. VM kit fits like a glove. Very little room on that side and fitment is tight! Coilovers, sway bars, subframe bushings, and adjustable rear toe arms come in next week. Next weekend should be fun.

Well in any case, when you're moving the air should be going through there pretty good. When you're at a stop, I suspect it will certainly ventilate better.

I've heard of trans overheats from those loover cowling hoods, maybe yours is just built properly, but I have seen them, with the loovers right in the middle, overheat M3s and an M6 at my Indy, they have diagnosed a good bit of trans over heats from the modified hoods, as they disturb the airflow the factory intended... That said there isn't too Much factory about your ride ;), and the loovers are smaller and to the side... So I guess it's the real deal and not just flashiness? Either way very cool man... Gonna need to check it out in person sometime soon...

Thanks for that insight. I will definitely be monitoring my transmission temps. I'm actually in the garage now messing with my new transmission fluid cooler. Hopefully this will help out some. I am still thinking about how I can help with aerodynamics after I get her running.

That....is ridiculous.

Unless they were facing the wrong way or somehow the air under the hood was the same pressure as the air above the hood essentially creating an air wall. The belly pans would have to be removed to create that as well tho...

Those louvers will work perfectly. Seal the underbelly of the car with some strategic venting and the low pressure air going over the hood will essentially PULL the hot high pressure air out of the engine bay. Aero 101 FTW
