Hey guys! I have been talking to Jason @ propulsive dynamics about trying to get another set of his clutches for my girlfriend’s car. Jason was kind enough to sell me the last clutch set from the original group buy order but is not sure if he wants to continue selling them.

I convinced him to do at least one more order of clutches but there are 2 problems!
1. The cost of the clutches has to go up for smaller orders
2. We need at least 6 people for him to even consider placing another order
If we can get 6 people including myself the price will be $1,200 for clutches and bushings but if we can get up to 10-12 people the price can come down to $1000. Pricing does include shipping to the lower 48 states

Someone named Eric made 850whp and 730 ft/lbs of torque on these clutches in the thread below
Well just finished up dyno tuning with Jake from Motiv. Got to a little over 850WHP before fueling issues arose. Seems my ID1300 injectors put a heavy toll on the lpfp and it can't keep up.

Propulsive Dynamics, LLC is happy to announce that we are now publicly offering an upgraded clutch kit solution for the 6HP21/19 transmissions that are currently found in BMW E9X vehicles. We are rating the performance increase of this clutch kit at ~30% over the known capacity limit of the stock configuration with increased spectrum of usage and margin of safety. Since torque is the key performance indicator regarding powertains, we have rated these clutches at ~715wtq.
Each kit includes our custom patented G3 Frictions, Kolene Steels and increased plate counts, not to exceed the stock OAT thus reducing the concern of clutch bind.
Due to our exclusive partnership with European Transmissions and Parts, it is preferred that the customer send their stock unit to them for rebuild to ensure an absolute perfect build. They are not only our certified installer but they are also a certified transmission refurbishment facility for BMW USA. Each unit is custom calibrated on a loaded transmission dyno cell. However, any highly capable transmission shop can perform the work but please be aware that custom machining of the clutch drum end plates and/or piston heads might be required to get the proper stack up.
The calibration procedure provided by European Transmissions includes increasing line pressures in each clutch drum, increased flow through the ATF pump, adjustments to slip durations to compensate for the increased friction coefficient and adjustments to the adaptation parameters themselves in order for the system to learn within its new boundaries.
European Transmissions and Parts can be contacted through their site at http://www.europeantransmissions.com/
Ask for Caroline or Herbert for more information and be sure to let them know you are a customer of Propulsive Dynamics to ensure you get our special pricing discount on the build.

We also strongly advise that the end user utilize an aftermarket ATF cooler to aide in heat management of the system that uses true AN fittings. The use of true AN fittings is important due the increases in ATF pump pressure and volumetric flow-rates. We also advise the use of Pentosin AFT-1 fully synthetic transmission fluid.

I know they use that specialty shop. Are you sending your transmission in or having a local shop do it?

Also, does this work with the standard xHP TCU changes, or does it need its own TCU tweaks?

I’m currently using XHP V1.8 as well with my PD transmission and it’s super smooth.

Do you put an ATF cooler on as well?
Yes I have a Setrab 16 row cooler and had an Inproved Racing 165 tstat. Since moved to PR I removed it. For Oil Pentosin ATF1 and definitely do the XHP flash. It’s night and day difference. Love this transmission

I own a PD transmission in my heavily modified 335i.

Installed 5,000 miles ago at a "reputable" bimmer tuner shop in norcal, that actually used the wrong fluid (low viscosity ATF 1 instead of regular viscosity ATF1) during the fill process, left me with a blown 4th gear on the side of the highway (still lasted 5,000 miles with this fluid). Tore apart the transmission without looking at what fluid was in it because I assumed the shop would have done the correct thing. Clutches and internals were in pristine condition even though i was not using an aftermarket trans cooler (temps maxed at around 230F in traffic). Never slipped on high power when it was functional, in the process of re installation with a roadblock in the TCM that I have to fix.

If you use the proper fluid, trans flash, and hook up the aftermarket trans cooler it is the best automatic transmission option on the market at the moment.

You're better off making your own kit if you can fabricate the brackets. OP has done this and can help you if he is willing.

So that's all? The only thing separating this tranny from greatness is the clutch pack and some bushings?
