New Coilover Install Question

So I am the kind of guy who wants to do all the work to my car that I can. I have done all the upgrades to my Z4 so far, but one territory I have never really touched is suspension. I recently purchased a front and rear coilover set and although the fronts look very straight forward I cannot seem to find information to answer the following question:

The E89 Z4 has separate shocks and springs for the rear. The aftermarket kit I had made is a dual spring coilover. So when installing a coilover do you remove the rear spring and leave it out? If not, what spring should you use? OEM? (I currently have lowering springs installed)

Thanks for the advice!

*edit, may be a non-issue. It is becoming apparent that the manufacturer did not send the proper rear setup.

@fmorelli <-- Our resident Z4 specialist.

The problem with your rear is you are supposed to have the spring and strut separate. If you convert to a 'true coilover' I assume things need to be reinforced as the strut is not supposed to take the weight of the car, which is what the spring normally does as it is on the inside of the strut. If that makes sense.

Hmmm you are going to hate my first leading question - what coilover setup did you purchase?

Sorry for the delay @fmorelli , I went with CEIKA. They seemed to have good reviews, although not very extensive. I am now fighting with their customer service. They insist with the rear dual spring that the OEM spring is not needed, they go on to say they have many people with the kit with no issue and that if i am fearful of the shock ripping through the body I can use a reinforcement plate. It just seems too much for a street car.

So far they wont honor their guarantee or return policy lol.

I wanted to go Ohlins route, but everyone including 3DM stated it was going to be around May for availability and with a fully blown front shock I wanted something quick. Which still didn't work out because despite their advertised week lead time it took them about two months to get them to my door.

Their policy says returns but their customer service rep is saying you can only return if you are dissatisfied and how can I know if i am dissatisfied without having installed them. They try to re-define the word "satisfaction" via email even though their policy says 15days refund if dissatisfed.

I used paypal thankfully, so ill dispute first and if that fails, then chargeback. Its why i always buy with PayPal. Two lines of defenses to get my money back.

Is this what you bought: https://ceika-store.com/products/cct1m144

You are dissatisfied. Period. None of their business to know why. It took too long to arrive would be an easy one, not their advertised lead time but actually 8x as long.

Close, I bought their 2M model. And I agree, but since this is THEIR f***up and not mine. I want them to pay for return shipping as some quick quotes to ship BACK to Taiwan is over $500.

Hopefully paypal and visa take care of you.

What are you going to do now for a suspension assuming you can get rid of them and be made whole?

So Ceika did all the work to design a rear suspension setup with complete different points for the spring location?

Okay ... yeah I'd get a refund. Are you in NC? (asking because of your user name). I do a lot of work with 3DM ... send me a PM if I can assist you. I did talk with Barry this evening and asked - there is no US stock , but we can get an ETA from Sveeeeeeden. Better to get the right stuff than .... well ...

Anyway send a PM if I can help.
