I just installed inlets a few days ago. Iv been running stage 2+ v8 ff mhd. With fbo. After installing the inlets I did a few wot pulls in 3-5 gears but very low RPMs and mph.. it felt like surging.. im not sure if there to much air now.. according to mhd the inlets are not indicated and they said I need a custom tune... Is this true or not an also should I consider getting a heavier spring in my bov. It was the standard one in the vrsf charge pipe bov set. Thanks. I'll post a data zip in a min

In my case installing inlets made car run like crap until tune for them. Like the car was choking on too much air and didn't know what to do when stomping on gas.

@jyamona Maybe a silly question (tried looking for the answer) but, after installing the ff motive box, is it possible to run a previous non ff custom map at a fixed e content level or 91 octane (as the ff doesnt like the pure E0 reading ) ?
My assumption is that in the wiring up of the motive ff box we are disabling that abillity somehow?

FF box must have FF flash running. So far as I understand it will cause problems if you run a non FF map when FF box is plugged in.

You have a misunderstanding on how this works. This is not a scenario you shoud be having and trying to fix by changing maps.

Not even sure where you get pump fuel with no E content at all so you should be measuring something even if you did not add any E85

You will still want an FF formatted map if the EVA is wired in to avoid codes, just have your tuner set the pump and E tables to the same values for whatever "static" mix you want a map for and name the file accordingly for your own info.

The logic will still be interpolating behind the scenes but the table vals will be the same so it won't matter.

What if one were wanting to remove the flex fuel module and flash an OTS map? How does mhd know that you are not wanting the flex fuel logic? I didn't see an option to opt out during the flash time options once the flex fuel option is purchased.

This is the issue i had, i just avoided low RPM full Throttle in gears 3-5... i havent had any issues, dont change the spring in the BOV, i spoke with TIAL about this, the guy was very informative and spent prob 35 minutes on the phone with me explaining in detail why this isnt the issue, the BOV can handle up to 1000hp, its the tune, just avoid those throttle positions until u get a tune.

Thanks jyamona

I am aware the FF setup has a mechanisim for the E0 situation which is basically a catch in the event of a faulty flex fuel sensor (reading E0 voltage) .Then softens the tune up to protect things. If we are running pump fuel only we do a dedicated map with the ff formating for pump? Or rejig the E0 reading for pump fuel and go without the safety?

Question on the ethanol sensor conversion. On my bin I see three values "0.5, 3.00, 4.00" and on the front page it's "0, 5" V. Any ideas?

Front page was likely during initial development.

The 0.5, 3 and 4 are the values required with the Motiv ECA as it takes into account the error conditions I built in.

Would that also be true for the interpolation values? I see they are scaled differently

Yes. If you are custom tuning after running the bin through the format tool, you should set the interpolation values as appropriate for your setup though. The pre-filled ones are there as a good starting point.

I ran my bin through the format tool as well as checked it against what Terry provides and they were the same. I just got a little concerned because I saw the values different on the front page.

Also in that other thread on here with the Motiv vs. Fuel It flex fuel setup the guy mentioned they were scaled differently, which I don't know if it's accurate since everyone uses the same Continental sensor

The voltage in to the dme does not come from the sensor itself. The sensor everyone uses outputs a frequency, which is converted to a voltage by the ECA. The Motiv ECA and the Fuel-It ECA treat this differently. Motiv ECA has various error output voltages I specifically designed.

That's why the voltage to E% table would need to be different based on your ECA.

Is that table labeled "Ethanol Sensor Conversion" or is it something else

The ECA measures as well fuel temperature, is it possible to enable this parameter into the monitoring feature?
