N54 DCT w/M3 Conversion

Can anyone tell me what the deal with the diff is a little more definitively? I know a 2.81 ratio will work and I'm good with that, but I'm concerned about diff choice and fitment. I see people saying the 235i/240i diff works by ust changing the rest cover but all the ones I see use a different output style and axles.
The 335d I see a few people saying bolts right in, but the output and axles are 94mm according to realoem whereas the e82 135i, e9x 335i/s has 86mm.
I ordered a 335d diff already, so I'm wondering if I'm going to have to swap over my ouput flanges?

Any help would be appreciated!

Ok I may have panicked early, I found an earlier car forum that claims the 86mm axles will fit into the 94mm flanges.

Finally got the diff in. Definitely not an easy task solo on jackstands, but I did it. Turns out you swap the output flange/stub axles which is very easy. Pop em out, pop em in.
So far going from 2.56 to 2.81 really isn't a massive difference in normal driveability, as of 2 long drives and 2 shorts since the install friday night. This is still on stock software and shifter. The rev match on the downshifts is a bit off, could need more time to adapt, ends up a few hundred rpms low and then catches up. Upshifts feel great as normal and the new ratio does liven it up a bit for acceleration.
Currently my power has gone out(damn wind) so I'm at a standstill until it's back. I'm almost done fitting the kombi (cluster), but getting the m3 into the 135 requires quite a bit of sanding down trial and error. After it's in I'll code it and make sure it's all good. Had some issues with my chip and poor programmer so wish me luck.
After that I'll get the shifter and software done.

I thought the 2.81 was supposed to be within the 10% range of both TCU configurations?

I think that it is, it may be that I haven't reset any adaptations and only went for a couple drives? It's my daily so we'll see how far I get with it tomorrow. Gotta make sure I'm not down for a day as I go unless it's the weekendd. Not looking forward to getting back under the car for the park lock cable, and of course having to custom dremel the shiftlogic button and cut and stitch the leather to fit. But it's gonna be sweet when I'm done!
Eventually I'll swap the pumpkin out again for an LSD but they're cost prohibitive for me right now.
I started it all cause I scored the 2.81 for 145$ shipped, beat that lol

Nice, barely covers freight, was it from a diesel?
Yeah, 2011 335d. Definitely the quick and dirty way to get this mod done. They shipped it loose in an oversized cardboard box with 1 price of brown paper and a plastic bag around it still full of fluid lol
But I pulled the cover and it all looked great so I cleaned it up and put it in with new redline 75w90.
The axle size issue had me scared until I found posts about swapping them and it was a breeze with a slidehammer.
After work tomorrow I should me able to get my cluster done and in and least. For the shifter and flash it may be next weekend. I'll definitely be updating here and when I finish maybe making my own write up or just giving you stuff to add to the original so people don't have to dig so deep 😁

I've read through everything could find on here but did anyone look into the 1M DSC module? They're rather spendy, but the 1M has MDM and its definitely not just a light in place of DSC because there are forum posts out there about switching it to Euro mode by turning off the US mode. I wonder of MDM could be had by swapping the 1M DSC and possibly requiring the 1M flash as well to communicate it?

You can flash your DSC with the 1M or an M3 file :)
The MDM stuff works and I think @LMB335is had to flash the 1M IKMOS DME rom to do so. All it does is give reduced DSC intervention or MDM .

Full MDrive requires the DME to store drivelogic levels etc. for that we need an M3 DME or a device to behave like one on the CAN Bus.

Just to be clear... the electrical parts of the various DSC units are the same across all of the e9x’s with 6 cylinders and up The hydraulics are different. Anyone out there with a broken 1M DSC can’t just throw in the same setup from a 335.

Can you or @LMB335is confirm how? I've tried at least 10 times now. With 1M VO, I need to change the SG index of the DSC and once I do that, it attempts to flash, but then get an out of range error when writing.

I have not tried flashing the M3 bin yet, but that will be my next step.

Ok. My thought was maybe controller needed to be changed, but as pointed out, 1M DSC is pricey and not exactly sure it connects to other switches like M3. TIS shows same non-M DCT EGS connections and no direct DSC pin to DTC like M3 (through JBBE instead). Question is whether or not it's realiable info.

What I really want to do is get the damn sport button on the wheel working and that's been unsuccessful so far too. Continue to get no SZL comm from the DME (1M SZL installed) regardless of coding. 1M Drivelogic activates on wheel button and although it's not realtime adjustable like M3, the default level seems like it can be set in DME.

I was under the impression he didn't actually get MDM working. I ran into him on Facebook and he said the DSC wasn't worth it along with the 1M flash because it never got what he wanted.
The reduced intervention is definitely what I'm looking for. When I want the car to play a bit I have to turn mine all the way off or it cuts throttle and slams my brakes even in a straight line. Granted an LSD will help with that.
