Hey guys,

I have a 2011 1M currently on failing stock turbos. I've been looking around at the single kits, and actually inquired about the SpeedTech bottom mount. After talking with Jeff at Speedtech, he is unsure if the kit would fit because the 1M uses the M3 subframe.

Does anyone have an idea if the 1 series SpeedTech kit would fit the 1M? Or know of other bottom mount kits that would have no problem fitting on the 1M? It's really hard to find info on people actually running a single turbo on their 1M.

I have a 1M and believe it is all the same up front. I ran the Motiv Kit without issue.

The 1m engine bay is identical to the 135 besides the bigger engine fan and extra Aux radiator in the drivers side on LHD cars.

Pick any bottom mount kit you like as they will all fit.

I mean, "fit" for sure but they don't all "fit well". ;)

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. @jyamona If this deal falls through for this other kit, I will definitely PM you. Thanks for letting me know.

I would get OEM replacement turbos to retain that resale value. Nobody wants a hacked up 1M, regardless if its a decent single turbo kit - save that for a clapped 135i w/150k miles.

unless the 1m has 9k miles or at least under 20k it will never have a good resale value, enjoy the car.

I done the s65 conversion on mine and its twice the car it is with the n54.

With covid now days and the new strain who knows whats going to happen next, live and have fun.

I'll be going back to stock before selling the car. And I don't see that happening for at least a decade. I'm at 54k miles and I'm going to drive the piss out of this car because even though some people treat their 1Ms like garage queens or a collection piece, I'm a firm believer that a car this fun and engaging to drive should be enjoyed as much as possible. To each their own, but I'm going to keep at it with this little car.

Not sure why a installing a single turbo on a car automatically equates to it getting hacked up?? There's really nothing to even hack into unless your just a hack job mechanic. The rear inlet is the only thing i would consider hacking into to make your life alot easier. Other than that what do you have to relocate and remove like 1 or 2 things? Vaccum canisters and the coolant resiviour need to be moved is all.

Yup, it's been a blast so far. Tune is finally dialed on the speedtech kit with a 6266 gen 2. 26psi on e50 with PFS POD overdrive and PFS double shot LPFPs. Short clip, was short shifting because of traffic nearby.
