Small update:
Ordered some Cool tape, header wrap, and a turbo blanket to help protect my silicone bits. Should have it all installed over Christmas weekend. Hopefully the new boots from Nexsys show up this week too.

After finalizing my mod list I got a base map from Wedge to start working the tune with. Though I fear I may have to suck it up and finally get a new HPFP. (Early E, rotary)

And just today I received the tracking from BigBoost shipping my missing parts that will be here next week and were supposed to have shipped on 11/22 but instead left on 12/20 . Definitely glad I'm doing my own work and didn't have a shop tear it down only to find that out.🙃 Rather unfortunate that my experience there has been so subpar, it bums me out. But I have hope and am excited to get this beast on the road.

Right after our recent snowstorm melts away 😅

Edited for typos

Nice! Did you figure out that issue with your blow off not working?
I haven't driven it again to test but yeah, I mistook the numbers on the ports compared to the diagram and had the BOV and boost lines swapped. So it was sending either boost to the BOV or blocking that in and sending boost straight to the vacuum pump lol. Whoops

Next update:
Wrapped the silicone elbow with "cool tape". Didn't finish putting it in yet cause getting the Tbolt clamp on is a real co******er and I had other stuff I could work on.

I received the new revision of boots and springs from Nexsys and did my install. It was medium smooth as I trimmed a couple spots that weren't shown in the guide. Wether this is related to being early E series or not I am unsure, but I didn't mind and at least for a quick start and run just to test, they at least work so far. Per recommendation from Wedge I'll be trying 0.026 gap (on NGK 97506) to start and see how it looks.

I also broke down and finally (regretfully cause they're so much more expensive) ordered a new HPFP, because the upgraded LPFP did not fix my long cranks or stumbles at idle. That should be here next week.

Unrelated to this project, I finally bought a truck cause the 1 series won't haul anything but ass 😂😁

Nice progress! Any background information on the spark plug gap? Typically I see .018 - .020 as the recommended gap with higher turbos. Is it because you have the b58 coil packs?

when switching to b58 coils they recommend a larger gap as the coils are more powerful and dont require a tight spark plug gap. Apparently the less tight gap provides smoother idle and so on.

Yep, as above. The B58 coilpacks put out over double the "power" so you can open up the gap without blowout which allows for a cleaner burn and if I'm not mistaken, actually a longer plug life.

When I get to dialing in the tune I'll definitely post my final specs up.

Yess, sorry my reply was a bit short and summed up😂. Curious are you going to switch to b58 spark plugs as well? I bought a set to go with my kit. Gonna go install that now

No worries haha

I already had an extra set of the 97506 sitting around so depending how it goes and what we see in the logs I'm honestly not sure. My understanding is that even the stock N55 plugs are actually plenty good.

Curious what your reason for upgrading coils was?

Tuner recommendation just to eliminate possible misfires and give me the best chance for the smoothest running. Especially if I ever get some E85 and turn it up later, may as well already be prepared. Might be a little bit of a gimmick, but I prefer the peace of mind.

And I put together my dads N54 car with VTT 2+ turbos and have seen the effects of skimping on things like plugs, coils, and flywheels, and fuel pumps lol

Ladies and gentlemen, I think she's finally good to go! Got all the bits and bobs in that I wanted/needed and drove around a bit today. Unfortunately it's supposed to rain for.. well basically the foreseeable future. So getting logs for tune revisions is going to be sparse and slow due to traction issues, but I'm quite excited. I just hope it all works fine and stuff doesn't start leaking on me. Call me a madman but this is still going to be my daily driver.

I got the outlet back on by peeling off a little of the too much tape I had on and getting the Tbolt clamp to close finally. I'm not sharing pictures of how ugly the tape job came out.

The header wrap i got turns out to be useless for the manifold as the holes are simply too small to do any wrapping. I *might* decide to wrap the downpipe later. I put the turbo blanket on but I'll be damned if I actually could get the retaining springs to clip it in place considering how little space I had to maneuver in there. But it's definitely wedged in enough that it isn't going to come off.

Fresh HPFP seems to help on start and idle though I'm wondering if somewhere between fueling, tuning, flywheel, or trans tune, I might need to bump my idle up so it doesn't stumble when reversing.

The blow off valve works!

Driving around I notice my oil temp is closer to 230 whereas before it was more like 210. Not high enough to be a serious concern but something I'll definitely ask my tuner about.

Looking good!

Do you have cold start disabled by chance? If so, my car does the same thing when cold and I have cold start disabled. I have to let it warm up for a little bit before driving or else it sputters and stalls, and my idle is set at 850. If I have cold start enabled, it doesn’t do it and runs fine.

Nope, I've experienced that before too, but this is even with the cold start on. Kinda odd, I certainly was always led to believe the cold start was just to heat up the catalytic converter, but apparently the N55 wants some warmth just to run. I'm waiting on a tuner response but there's a good chance I just bump up the idle.

You probably already know this. But just in case, the idle sliders in mhd don’t work on DCT cars. Your tuner can raise it though.

Even with my raised idle, on initial cold start, my car still stumbles if I just put it in reverse and start trying to back out after letting it idle for 30 seconds but once it’s warmed up it’s great.

Oof, big oversight. That explains why it seemed lower even when I tried to bump it up 😅 I'll be sure to inquire about that if he doesn't already change it from my last email.

Appreciate the info!

Anybody got any ideas why after a new HPFP and the B58 coils and new plugs now I can barely drive? Serious issues with low speed take off with the DCT bucking like a damned bronco. I thought maybe something with the base map was an issue so I tried my old custom (pre turbo upgrade) and it's just as bad. It was fine on the new turbo and my old map before the HPFP and coils/plugs. It was perfect for overall driving obviously not being tuned to the big turbo yet, but I didn't have the take off issues. I'm double/triple checking for anything I might have missed plugging in but I have no codes. Still running the same custom trans tune from @Olza

Update, resetting various adaptations and retrying I've seen notable improvement. Still a little clunky, but to be fair the the DCT had never been as smooth as an automatic.
