Engine mount suggestions?

Currently running revshift 80A Engine mounts + trans mounts but kind of tired of the added vibration, Even with raised idle.

I know most poly mounts will have vibration, any suggestions besides the 335is engine mounts or 335is are the way to go even with added power?

I bought stock Motor mounts and filled them with PU. No added vibrations and no issues.

This sounds interesting, I haven't set my hands on an actual motor mount yet, any details on how you did this? Do they have a fill port? Assuming PU = polyurethane, any details on that? I haven't dug into motor mounts yet, but will be upgrading turbo soon, so it's on my radar it may be good to replace or upgrade at the same time.

I have seen people doing this, it did not add any NVH?

I have no added NVH whatsoever. At least this is my subjective review after 2000 miles.
You can find a lot of threads and videos about that. I was also inspired by others doing that.
Just google n54 engine mounts pu filled and you will find a lot of information e.g.:

I had billet race plates but ultimately swapped to IS mounts as I didn't like that the plates lifted the engine higher.

Either are probably fine. No real difference in NVH. I've avoided PU due to temps and durability.

Wow, what a cool idea! Did you get the street or the black series? I assume black series is stiffer? I didn't see an explanation of the differences in the link.

Did you notice the increase in nvh? Or any other subjective observations since installing these?
I got the black "race" version.

I installed after these aluminum IRP mounts, so it was a pretty drastic decrease in NVH. No comparison with OEM mounts, sorry.

How are the IS mounts? what power level are you at?

This is a nice solution. It's inexpensive and easy to do - how wrong can one go? But most importantly it retains rubber which is superior in NVH than any urethane on the planet. Rubber is much harder to work with which is why every company on the planet is happy to sell urethane mounts for NHV applications lol.

One thing I will say - I found my factory passenger motor mount was compressed after 30k miles. That's different than lateral movement. So in that regard, I'm not sure how much this approach helps.

The powerflex bushings remind me of E46 RTAB limiters - same concept. I really think someone should make urethane inserts that go between the rear subframe and chassis - like a slotted U insert. This would maintain the rubber NVH properties while limited subframe movement.

I ran the black revshift motor mounts for around 3,000km. Mostly street driving and one track day. The mounts I used were the ones that were marketed as street or oem+ on fcp.

Didn't like them even with the idle set to 1k rpm. Car felt a bit better with the revshift mounts but I'd say it was fairly minor in the grand scheme of things. What was not minor was the added vibration at idle. It was quite noticeable, and this is with a bunch of other NVH-adding mods having been done previously which probably helped mask the overall NVH from these mounts (coilovers, poly trans mounts, solid mounted rear subframe, twin disk xclutch with all the jingle, and minor things like m3 arms and monoball conversions).

I'd only recommend these mounts if NVH considerations have gone out the window. Straight pipe or hood exit, gutted interior, solid mounted diff - that sort of stuff.

Have since thrown in some stock mounts, so if anyone in Aus wants some lightly-used revshift mounts, let me know.

This is my issue as well. I’m running the 80a revshift engine/trans combo. Although it definitely tightened things up and made the throttle response much better. I just wasn’t too fond of the added NVH. If i’m not mistaken i think the passenger engine mount is the main NVH adder.

On a side note, How are you liking the monoball bushings on the m3 arms, i’m running m3 arms with factory bushings. Also interested in what bushings you are running in the subframe. Since i added stiffer mounts i noticed more drivetrain slop from the other bushings. I also did add a rear differential brace

Revshift 80A ... lots of talk around here on those. I have them, simply because there was no reasonable solution when I replaced my factory mounts which were trashed in 30k miles. They work fine for me. I don't even have the idle up. Once in a while there is a resonance. BUT I would not recommend them - plenty of people have similar experience to what @jzx_andy says above. It's a bad application for urethane. I'm probably just lucky with how my setup runs. I would not be suprised, after further engine and trans upgrades, that I may have issues with the Revshifts; if so, I'll likely go to the PU filler approach on stock mounts.

I have the black revshift motor mounts and transmission mounts for my DCT. I absolutely love them.

My rpm is set to 800. I do feel them a little at idle, but I like it and shifting at wot feels rock solid.

I’m an N55 but that shouldn’t matter. Car is around 630 wheel.

Are the engine mounts the only upgraded mount or bushings that you are running?

running stock mounts + vtt engine mount spacer at the moment
aftermarket mounts melted on me even with heatshields so i gave up running them

Nope. Off the top of my head, these are all the things I am running that could cause nvh:

- revshift Black Poly engine mounts
- revshift black poly transmission mounts
- condor Delrin differential bushings on m factory helical diff
- whiteline rsfb
- G.A.S. monoballs for the front and m3 arms
- m3 arms and bimmerworld spherical bearings everywhere in the rear except the two bushings on the hub side for the upper arms (still on the fence converting these to sphericals because of the broken bolt issue)
- bimmerworld rear toe arms with aurora bearings
