I saw only 1 single post on that, and no solution.

- inb4 '' get rid of jb4'', yeah , but not yet. Work fine for my needs.

Spec : N54 , ST, MHD BEF, Maps on JB4 G5 (lasted ST firmware), 3.5 Continental TMAP N20 w/ wiring reversed order , BMS 600CC meth kit.

Issue : Ive noticed 48°F iat @ 27psi on a 5.5'' stepped IC. Quite low !

I've added a external boost gauge and BINGO ; it read 22 psi, while JB4 read 28psi (peak) !

reached Terry, he doesn't know.

He told me to put TMAP :
- Setting to 1 : No , I ve a check engine and a 7.8psi readin on IDLE !
- setting 2 : same behaviour
- Setting to 3 : bingo, idle reads 0psi ( or vacuum) , but Ive a +/- 5 psi offset

ONLY 1 person reported Setting 3 did the trick, but he never validate the REAL boost pressure !

Any way to ''calibrate'' it?

[SOLVED] : Continental N20 TMAP was DEFECTIVE. I also update to 141_T1 alpha

getting worst by doing nothing?

get the car out of storage, it runs fine, feels like around 480whp.

The ONLY thing Ive changed is the MHD update for MHD+ and merge all MHD app version. So it aksed me to reflash the BEF.

But log 45 psi !!!!!!!!!!!!! (no way on 94 fuel pump lol) by chance my external gauge shows 22-23ish psi.
Also HPFP crash and kick me back in map 1

datazap map 3 94oct meth

I'd love to assist, but I don't know where to start with a JB4.

The N54tech forums were always the place to discuss the in-depth calibration for a JB4. I did used to read them sometimes as they offered a less toxic board than bummerboost. I wouldn't rule out component failure on the board though, the few times I have seen strange issues on JB4 cars the have needed board replacements.

thanks, I saw you're pretty active in the N54 platform, Ill let you know if I change from jb4 to full mhd.

So far the car runs great, ive double checked with virtualdyno, 23psi or 45psi, it read the same whp.

can't explain why the board would have failed stored few months on a battery tender in a heated garage.

If possible, Id switch to full MHD control, its a lot more reliable and simpler. MHD also seems to be easier to navigate than JB4. Ive been on full MHD since I went single turbo and its given me no issues.

Yeah full MHD is what most people doing.
For now, I'd like to figure it out, since i got the latest JB4 for free, and going back to MHD, for a Canadian, is pretty expensive ; licence + couple of custom maps from a tuner.

Also according to some post on bimmerpost, the MHD safety is meh. Saw few log with super lean mixture or LPFP crashing and MHD didn't put the car on limpmode... While JB4 will do. My LPFP failed 2 times , might saved my n54.

So got back from Terry and here the response :

For N54 we had TMAP = 3 assigned to ECU flash set to 3.5bar. I'll move that setting to 4. So he can update to 141_T1 alpha and set TMAP = 4.

So now it's working ;

- my external boost gauge reads what JB4 ask for ; if I ask for 25psi , external read 25psi. However, JB4 still reading fckup values, got 43psi reading , lol.

- JB4 wont trhottle cut , Ive set the MAX value to 25psi, and the was was still pulling way over this value. At one point my external reads 30psi. Danger to manifold Brian !

tldl : Single T people with JB4 ; use the alpha revision from JB4 firmware !

Have you tried another TMAP sensor? Like anything else, they can fail, even if only a day, week, year old. Order a new one and install it, & go drive and test with your old settings that used to work fine. If it fixes the issue, keep it. If not, then make sure it is clean and return it. No harm since using one for a day or two won't ruin it for the next person who buys it. Or if no return, just keep it as a spare or sell it on eBay. As a former electronics field tech, never assume anything is good because it is new or only a year old, etc. My car has JB4 I bought used 4 years ago and MHD BEF. I also have the N20 MAP sensor.

I think I'm here now, to change the TMAP.
Either the tmap or jb4 at this point.

Played with it on the highway, and ''meth boost additive'' wont change anything. 'Map3 still hitting 30psi. But I think meth control wont work with pre-setted maps, only map6 or 8. And probably why my tank empty superfast... It spraying at low psi.

Map2 is doing 25psi, which is high for map 2.

Surprised tho how I didnt get any issues with DI only, fuel pump and meth at 30psi. The car was a freaking rocket, but not safe at all for a stock engine with pump fuel.

A bad TMAP could be the whole problem. Sometimes the fix is really simple.

Ordered.

so now the boost limit hit, and throttle cut, and kick me on map 1 ; reason : boost.

- but the MAX boost reading is 19.1 (like if JB4 think im on OEM TMAP), and boost limit is 25psi. Strange.
- since it can not read properly, it wont limit the wastegate operation, so I can hit 30psi, then it throttle block. very strange.

At least now Ive protection, some what. Which I didnt have on my previous log (touching nothing, I guess learning?)

Anyway, TMAP seems to be the issue here (continental). Can't wait to get my new one. 230$cad +tx + ship, not cheap.
tempting to get a amazon/alispecial one too at 50$ to do some testing.

I have a feeling the TMAP will be the fix. I bought an N20 one aftermarket one cheap from somewhere and it works perfect. So don't be afraid of saving a few bucks.

you got it Jon !

indeed the TMAP was defective ! thank you!

So the moment I swapped it, the engine was stalling and instant engine code (because jb4 was still on setting 4).

Got the TMAP option to =1 in JB4, and bingo.

Now, I got some boost cut, need some tweaking. With TMAP option =1 now my boost ceiling is 36psi instead of 25psi.

On map 2, default is 20psi, I hit 27psi.... Not quite there, need to find the issue, but none of the less, 27psi felt awesome. Hopefully is only the FF values, need to do logs, but it's raining since 8 days straight now, and sun is planned only on monday. so 12 days under the grey wetty sky.

Ah!
I think I've been having the same issue.
Would get 5psi requested when actual request was 0 on my jb4.
Just flashed an MHD only map after replacing injectors. The car is getting a tmap code. So I've ordered a new one.
My 3.5 bar tmap is many years old.

Glad you posted this and figured out the problem.

seem to be a fragile module.

So everything is good now.

on my last post Ive mentioned target is 17psi, while this is normal, because with 3.5bar tmap, target is 17psi.

I'll probably run map5 (26psi) for now and call it a day.

I managed to find my old original sensor today.
Yes they do look fragile.
I ordered another 3.5 which said 48 hour shipping but I have a feeling it's actually on a slow boat from China. Might be a counterfeit.
Will probably reinstall the old sensor to see if boost reads right. Once the fash is switched back from a 3.5.

Sorry to hijack your post, bro. Hope you don't mind.
I’m new to the JB4 and using the G5 ISO—can anyone help me figure out how to access menu 4/4 in the JB4 Mobile app? I want JB4 to control only WMI or PI. I have PI box.
I've been trying to figure it out, but no luck so far, and it’s been tough to get in touch with Terry lately.
Any help would be really appreciated!

UPDATE.

so the new TMAP lasted me around 60-70 km.

I had loud pops when I lift the throttle, so Ive open the app, and the TMAP read again huge pressure , around 45psi and take FORWEVER to drop, so I'm on idle and it slowly drop from 45psi to 0psi ; injector and meth is dumping crazy and afr goes nuts rich.

At this point, I'm thinking TMAP dont like meth and damage it ? (using the meth port on the charge pipe)

My audi I spray meth before the tmap for 60k km and no issue, bmw parts are cheap lol
