Finally got a date that I will be in Idaho to install everything 20 July. I can barely stand the wait, but I know the day will eventually come. If Reflex+ becoming canbus integrated for the n55 E series before that could someone give me a heads up? searching online out here is a terrible experience I tested the download speed and it was .08 mpbs lol

Ok the day is almost upon me after months of waiting! I am heading home tomorrow and planning on installing the turbo on the 20th!! I dont know if any of you saw my last post about having valvetronic issues. but after researching it and finding out more about how this engine works it got me thinking about a possible issue with installing the turbo i got.

So after reading about the valvetronics system on the n55 it seems that it doesn't use the throttle body like a regular engine would to control the air coming into the system. it uses the eccentric shaft to lift and close the intake valves, so right now with mine dead at the max lift position it switched to the throttle body to control the air coming into my engine. runs great now but I still want to fix the issue.

This is where i am thinking there might be an issue. i have a charge pipe with tial bov and know that if i hook it to the intake manifold it should work as intended with the throttle body working like a normal car, but if i fix the eccentric shaft motor and it leaves the throttle blade open at all times will the BOV work?

Thanks for any information, i apperciate it!

Exciting times!!

That's a good question about the blow off valve, I don't know the answer. You'll definately have less vacuum in the intake manifold when valvetronic is working, but I don't know how much. I do know that it's not purely running off valvetronic though, so the throttle body won't be fully open and just metering with valvetronic. The throttle plate should still move roughly as expected for an engine without valvetronic - its like you have two throttle plates in series, the actual throttle plate and the intake valve.

Hopefully it won't be an issue, but if it is there are things you can do. You could connect a solenoid valve to your stock diverter valve harness, and then use that valve and your vacuum pump to run the blowoff valve using the DME's logic for controlling the diverter valve. I think that's what I'll end up doing with the diverter valve on my EFR (if it ever gets off backorder...).

Thanks @wheela for the information! So far my plan is to just put the turbo kit on and see if the BOV functions properly if it does, I will fix the valvetronic issue and see if it continues to work. If it doesnt then I will start working towards looking into running it how you mentioned with a mac and the stock diverter valve signal. hopefully it doesnt need another mac though cause i want to keep it as simple as possible.

Damn it is still on back order!? its gotta be hard to wait this long lol, but then again at least you are doing it right the first time and wont have to mess with any of it again.

Sounds like a good plan, keep us postedšŸ‘

Yeah, it's taking while. It's still gonna take a long time to install after I get it, but I'm still anxious to get my hands on it. I love having cool shit around!

It's in! I will load up some pictures when I get back off leave. Trying to spend some quality time with my family since I have spent the last few days wrenching on my car haha. Feels so good to have it done though. Pure stage 2 up for sale if anyone's looking let me know.

Finally got to pulling a log... the 6466 feels extremely laggy compared to my PS2 and I know the lag can be helped by fuel and the tune. But honestly, I love it so far, it at 17psi on 92 octane feels like my PS2 with meth at 24 psi (just not in the lower rpms haha) what I have noticed as well is no limp mode whatsoever since I have installed this turbo.

Couple things of note I have noticed is even though the spring color combination I installed in my wastegate is supposed to be 11 pounds but when I do a map 1 log (wastegate spring pressure for the JB4) it shows about 7.8 pounds. but when I go to map 2 it holds 17 so I guess it's all good. I might put one more small spring in when I get a chance though to try to get the wastegate to do 10-12 pounds on spring pressure.

Overall, pretty happy. Just need to figure out a couple things with my meth injection and I will be shooting for mid 20's.

here is a log I took recently I just have nowhere to actually pin out 3rd so it is not the best. https://datazap.me/u/schmidty335i/6466-n55?log=0&data=1-4-18-19

Oh and huge shout out to Jeff@speedtech the install took me awhile, but everything fit exactly how it needed to without any modifications! although I did state I installed my PS2 without removing or even lowering my sub frame I don't think that would be possible to do with the speedtech kit and if it was it would be a total nightmare! Pictures to come this weekend!

oh and one more thing I forgot to mention was ever since the install I haven't been using a MAF. Just thought I would mention that since I had been so curious about running without one for so long and I know others have as well.

I see you got a pro mod on your hands. Happy to hear it's pulling strong. Maybe check for boost leaks, you should be close to 11 psi on gate if that's what your spring is. Plus it looks like your boost is falling off up top.

I have a leak tester I was just so burnt out after installing the kit and wanting to drive it that I didn't do the test. I think I might have a leak as well but the sounds i hear now are all new one compared to my old setup. But yeah I need to do it for sure.

Any details on this? Did you do anything besides unplug the maf? Any related lights or codes?

First I confirmed with burger motor sports that I could do this, they gave me the go ahead. Simply unplugged it and had no issues. Only thing I notice is the exhaust has way more of an emissions smell but I don't know if that is cause of the new turbo or not. Also here are some pictures!

Oh totally forgot to mention it does give me a light when I start the car but doesn't effect anything while driving or idle. With the jb4 I just do a few clicks on the steering wheel and it will be gone until I shut off the car. The code is 277A. For the wastegate I just went with a tial.

Did you have much clearance here between the compressor housing and that "U" shaped coolant pipe between the pump and thermostat?

Also, I see both bottom bolts in place at the water pump - you didn't need to adjust water pump position with the special speedtech bracket? Also, did you use both bolts to attach the thermostat to the pump, or did you just use one to shift it forward?

Sorry for the thousand questions, just trying to gauge how tight it is in therešŸ‘

The clearance in that area is pretty much nothing it is touching the compressor housing, but with the provided bracket you could move it forward. The way they do the cooling system on these cars make it a real pain in the ass to do anything there. I initially was going to use the bracket but when moving it forward the other coolant hoses seemed like they were going to be a pain to route (super tight area) so I just tried to see if it would fit in its original position. It did of course but took a whole lot of routing and wiggling the hoses around to have everything fit right and tight.

As for the thermostat it is not connected at all to the pump. But it is not going anywhere for sure the hoses have it in a position where you can barely wiggle it at all. It will be a nightmare to change when the time comes lol.

One last note if your compressor housing is bigger than a precision 6466 you will pretty much have to use the adapter. Oh and I don't mind the questions at all @wheela if you have anything else you can think of let me know.

Oh and also the bov has been working perfectly! Forgot to mention that in my previous post.

Hey, if the U hose is touching the compressor housing i would highly advise either using some heat protective material/ or something that repels it between them. My compressor housing still gets too hot to touch and I'm concerned that it may melt through your hose eventually.
