DCT Part numbers for servicing and repair as well as cost

So here we have the part numbers and cost from FCP at the moment in USD as well as conversion to AUD.

Where FCP didn’t find the part i estimated or averaged The side pan seal for example, also some of the bolts

Worth noting that labour charges for this will vary greatly and that’s because some people will take the whole box out to service the side cover whilst others wont. Bottom pan apparently is straightforward.

All of them leak like a sieve though.

Well I have a transmission sitting outside, I wonder what I should get replaced? It has 32k miles.

Once its in, its difficult to access the side cover so perhaps getting all that done. They can leak. You can always replace the pan later as its easy to get to

I cannot stand leaks. But then again, I have to pull this thing out when I put the upgraded clutches in anyway right?

That's a really good point. I haven't thought about the side cover leaking. I'll change all of that out prior to my swap. Although I'll be going to SSP clutches at some point, it'll be later in the summer/fall hopefully. I'm also considering a 8.8 rear swap about the same time.

That doesn’t make sense. The calibration is for new clutches. If you calibrate the TCU for the old ones, then put in new ones what would be the point...? Im not disputing @BMWJunkie as he knows more about this than i do but id like to know why ?

He said if anything was wrong or glitchy on your wiring harness, hardware or installation then there is a chance you could burn up the clutches.

I don't understand, why wouldn't you just replace the clutch, then reset adaptations and drive. That is how you do it stock, right?

When youbuograde clutches there are four adaptation procedures or something like that. But this is more related to ensuring the transmission swap itself is sound.

When doing the DCT swap on Turbocripple's 135i we ran into the issue where we had a faulty Dodson clutch pack and spent a lot of time and money trying to diagnose why it would not complete the learn in procedure. Unless you have successfully completed a DCT swap in the past I would highly recommend performing the learn in procedures on the original clutch successfully. You do this for several reasons. You make sure you have the equipment to perform the procedures successfully, you verifiy the programming and coding of all modules modified are operating correctly, and you verify the integrity of the used transmission.

You can put the clutches in before testing everything but if you have an issue you will have one more thing to question, and that part costs a lot, and cant be driven on if the learn in doesnt work. Then you are stuck with a car you cant drive that becomes a challenge to diagnose.

Finally getting around to installing those clutches... Besides the fluid, what on this list would you consider a must do when the transmission is cracked open? Nothing is leaking on my transmission.

Id change all the gaskets and o rings. The usual filter and oil and sump. There was a cast pan available I’d go that as well instead of the plastic or expensive billet
