@PTF has opened up the second round of their beta test. Pricing looks set at $595 for just the bootmod3, and $890 when the OBD Agent device is added. Here is the description from their facebook page:

Product Details
In case you haven't purchased an OBD Agent hardware device with your initial order and are finding using a laptop in your car cumbersome when using the bootmod3 mobile app you can purchase the preconfigured OBD Agent device and leave your laptop at home. This device is simply a convenience option to bootmod3 users and carries no additional functionality over the laptop based OBD Agent.

OBD Agent device connects via OBD ENET cable to your vehicle's OBD port and connects over WIFI to a 'bootmod3' WIFI network for internet access to the bootmod3 cloud.

NOTE: Device on its own has no bootmod3 functionality. Appropriate bootmod3 license is required for a given vehicle. Laptop based OBD Agent software and the device have identical features.

For more information or instructions on setup please email us at [email protected] or refer to our Instagram and Facebook accounts.

**** bootmod3 requires a DME unlock to be performed to enable OBD access

**** OBD ENET cable required, available separately

**** bootmod3 OBD Agent device is recommended but not required to use the bootmod3 platform. It removes the need for a laptop in the car for using bootmod3's features. If you're looking to simply load a tune on the car without much datalogging and monitoring while reducing cost then using your laptop instead of our device may be the ticket for you.

Let's get started with second round beta already, said no one ever

Pricing and details on the product are on our website that you can find here:

Second round beta will be limited in volume as we want every car to have the same level of attention provided. We'll try to keep it open it up to as many cars as we can depending on modifications, octane used, ability to datalog and provide feedback.

During this beta maps are provided FREE. In return the feedback we're looking for is simply using the app for its features such as live dash, datalogging, map switching and driving on the tune and any revisions provided.

As with any software expect innovation/changes as we go along as well as potential bugs that need to be sorted from one car to another. It is software after all and BMW has blessed us with a seemingly infinite number of versions

Once an order has been placed send us your list of modifications and VIN number to [email protected].

- DME unlock is required to use bootmod3. When/if shipping the DME to us please email us first to obtain an RMA number and indicate warranty repair on the package especially for international shipments.

- Android support only at this time, iOS in the works

- You'll need a Google (GMail) account to be added into the beta program so you can download the app through the Google Play Store

As it was noted, a one time bench flash DME unlock is required to use the bootmod3, which enables OBD access from a laptop, or a mobile device if the OBD Agent device is also purchased.

If this wasn't clarified elsewhere, is there a known name for the DME unlock and is it handled in-house at PTF?
