Got the car on the dyno today to check out the off the shelf BM3 e30 map.

Car is a 2017 M140i, manual gearbox.
Engine mods
-BCS 100 cell catted downpipe
-K&N Drop in Filter with hot climate intake duct
-NGK spark plugs gapped down to 0.022”
Fuel is ~30% ethanol mixed with 98 ron.
Tune is BM3 OTS E30 stage 2

Car has been on this dyno twice before.

Visit 1 car was stock including downpipe.
Stock: 307whp
Mission Performance Stage 2 tune: 391whp

Visit 2 was after the down pipe was installed.
MP stage 2 with DP: 401whp

Visit 3 was today
BM3 e30 tune: 426whp
Log: http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d1ebc93ae729b16a305fe38

Runs today and visit 2 were done in 5th gear. Unfortunately the runs on visit 1 were done in 4th gear so the graphs don’t overlay nicely.
I’ve overlayed the MP stage 2 tune (98ron) for comparison.
BM3 made 25 hp more on lower boost (MP:22psi, BM3:16psi) and held power better to redline.
Happy with that.

strong results. Thank you for providing the data! Haven't seen too many people run through a 5th gear pull in a 6MT.

We did a run in 4th as well and the results were the same.
I used the 5th gear graph so it would compare nicely against the old graph.
For some reason they couldn't get the RPM scaling right so that's why it just has speed at the bottom.

And if you want to see how this tune performs under hard use, it coped with 20 minutes sessions no problem, performed flawlessly until I ran out of fuel.

Also the overlay isn’t accurate as the built in Garmin Virb GPS is pretty crap.
Was actually hitting up to 225kmh according to my lap timer, which is about 10-15kmh higher than what I was hitting with the Mission Performance tune.

Flat 16psi but a bootload of timing - looks fantastic! More timing and less boost = lower IAT - win/win :) Look a little funny that the rpm is not a smooth line... Damn it is fast around that track! Brakes?

That's on AD08R's? Impressive, how much do feel the resurfacing has improved lap times at barb's (if at all)? Friendlier on tyres now?

Stock brakes with PFC08 pads.
But they are well and truly cooked and I overheated and crumbled the pads last time out.
I have ordered an Alcon front brake kit.

Yeah AD08Rs.
Car is driven on track as I drive it on the street, even leave the kid seats in the back, I just adjust coilovers and tyre pressures.

New track surface is great, it definitely improved lap times and much friendlier on tyres.
I snuck it into the 65s since I posted this.

good stuff, well done.
pretty amazing to get into the 65's with so few mods, you might be able to take out the time attack street class win with that!?

also impressive that you get several back to back consistent fast laps out of a road tyre. Going to give those AD08r's a crack next tyre swap.

I went to sign up for November's time attack then realised I had agreed to take my kids and nephew to the wiggles that day
AD08Rs are the go for a street tyre that will handle the track.
I was doing full 20 minute sessions, car was flawless, tyres were no problem, it's just the brakes letting the package down.

negotiate, its probably only worth about 2 ice creams each for them to miss it....

tyres were no problem

I'm reading what your writing but still find it hard to believe! I hate paying Yoko prices but looks like you definitely get your money's worth for a dual purpose tyre. If you ever stick AO50's on it i'd be interested to know what the difference is.

Have you ever run RE71r? Wondering how the AD08r compare.

Brakes look fine... small cracking of the rotor is normal. Bend the heat shields back to scoop some air... throw in some brake ducts. That will do 10x more for you than a BBK. M235iR runs 355mm 4pots. I doubt the 340mm 4pots your car came with are holding you back any.

I know people love PFC-08, but it has been discontinued for a few years now. Any 08 pads still floating around out there are old stock (I actually run them so don't think I am biased or something). PFC has moved to a new line of pads. De-lamination might have more to do with the pad and less to do with the need for a bbk.

I'm not worried about the heatchecking of the rotors. They are very inconsistent feeling giving me no confidence and they leak out of the bleed screw threads. I replaced the bleeders but I think the actual caliper has deformed from overheating so much, which also turned them black. I did bend back the heat shields but I should have removed them and added some cooling.
This is what one of the pads looked like, that top right chunk was loose and could easily come off. They had plenty of meat left.

I haven't used them myself, but all accounts suggest they are faster for a few laps but nowhere near as durable.

I was tempted to throw on my e36 wheels (17"s with A050s on them) but they didn't fit very well.
Probably not going to spend the $2k+ for a set of A050s plus I would need another set of wheels.

A bunch of work and a S54 swap that is taking forever.
Hopefully wrapped up soon.

Worked out OK in the end. The shop’s insurance paid out and I spent about half the payout replacing things.

The new seat fits me better and I got a better harness and a quick release steering wheel hub.
