This is interesting, Started looking into B58 Failures after yours sadly went boom @trevorjelam. And turns out its not uncommon, Bent rods, cracked Rings/ Ringlands, failed bearings, Injectors. All the B58 problems just don't seem commonly talked about. I see people chanting B58 over N54 but i don't see the hype.

Also Trevor Congrats on starting on your built motor adventure, that's going to be one fast machine. Curious if your building the trans, or doing any other drivetrain modifications.

To be fair, my car was being pushed pretty hard for a stock block. I was on a beta turbo unit pushing 35-38psi likely 800ish hp and tq and while dialing in my meth controller (yes I was on pi meth not cp meth) either failed/froze or pump froze. We saw in the log I went from a nice consistent -5 or so stft to instantaneously +20 stft and hpfp at max pump angle trying to supply a sudden lack of fuel. This leaned out the motor and ringland piston #1 shattered and melted. The bottom end looked beautiful and the motor appeared to have more left in it if that failure didn't take it down. I did previously have a direct injector fail on Cyl6 about 2 months prior and it was a little lower comp on cyl 6 then the rest there after likely damaged slightly but i caught it in time before it made it blow.
Pictures attached is the failed ringland and condition of stock Rod bearings pulled at 56k miles and about 25k of those miles being different setups ranging from 500-800ish hp.

How did DI fail on cyl 6 ? Don't think it stayed open so...what happened there ?

6 seemed to have gunked up either be it Ethanol Gunk or Carbon build up. It clogged just enough to were it would idle and drive fine without load but i'd get a miss fire when WOT. It worsened while I was diagnosing ignition system to melting plug number 6 when WOT and a consistent missfire at idle and 0 load And a new Injector solved the problem.

That plug definitely does not look good. Now that motor is torn down, what damage was done to #6 ?

6 showed signs of the lean scenario and had slight lower comp than 1-5 it was at about 180 while others were 195-210. But did not have any other issues. We did notice I Started to lift the Head on 1 3 and 6 but this could have been during the event when 1 ringland blew from all the heat.

Yes but why lower CR ? Any signs of bent rod at all ? Scraping cylinder wall ? Piston not reaching tdc ? Or did it lose compression thru rings ?

Ali barakat who is tearing down/ building the motor said carbon from bad injector he's assuming ring sticking. Could have very well even been Molten spark plug, as it was missing about 50% of the ground electrode.
