Anyone use this method to see if you have a leaky injector?

Dont pull your injectors without the special tools or gaskets. You'll make things worse. If you not on index 12, just buy them quit being cheap. I'd never buy a 3 series from someone who cheaps out on everything because the engine will go boom fast. I'd also never buy one who thinks the stock 14k mile oil interval is good especially with more boost over stock.

You seem to want to buy everything Chinese like turbos, fuel pumps ect... so go buy Chinese injectors and call it a day.

Dude wtf. You don't have to rip into him like that, he didn't give any context to why he wants to know if anyone tests like that. Maybe hes on index12 already.

My front differential is solid and in great shape! I was thinking about replacing that. Thanks for the information. I don't replace things in a car until something is wrong. I never said anything about Chinese injectors in this post lol and they are made in what Italy anyways.... wtf

You obviously haven't seen his post history. Everything is China on here, Facebook, bummerboost, almost everywhere.

He also talked about Chinese index 12 (yes off brands are made in China and they fraudulently claim it's not especially on ebay, NGK and tial are example of this problem) already in another injector thread he created.

I understand your interest in Chinese stuff and I'm sorry if I sounded like an ass. Its just when it comes to fuel injectors it's the one thing you not only should replace to index 12 asap but you definitely dont want to buy them on Ebay. I say this out of concern for your engine because leaking injectors make engines go boom.

I got lucky and had mine updated to index 12 from BMW but if I didn't I wouldn't hesitate to update them asap. I'd hate to lose my engine from a broken injector. Also you mention e85 which is killer on the old injectors. I'm guessing e85 killed mine to because they didn't start leaking until I ran e85 for 6 months. Index 12 handles e85 a lot better than the old ones.

Where are the best index 12 injectors at a semi decent price? Mine were done at BMW in 2011 with index 8 and 5.

I understand just not sure what's all different that makes them handle E85 better. Also if I were to have a leaky injector wouldn't I see a cylinder pull timing or something odd in my logs? Just wondering the pros at n54 say my logs look excellent.

So you already had them replaced by bmw? Have you tried to reach out to them? The injectors have 10 year 150,000 mile warranty from what ive read online. Also if yours were fixed and now leaking again it shows that they didnt fix them correctly which would explain why you have missmatched injectors. I know you cant mix index 12 unless you run 3 for the bank, im not sure if the old ones worked the same way.

https://blog.fcpeuro.com/difference-between-direct-fuel-injector-13538648937-and-13538616079

As for why they work with e85 better its because of how its made, the internals of the injectors. If your injectors arn't leaking or malfunctioning why do you think there is a leak?

I knew i had an injector/spark plug issue when i had missfire codes (not sure if they were Pre-Ignition, or Engine knock that caused it). Once the codes popped up i took it to bmw and it they updated all the injectors with index 12 (a few years ago). As for the best price, man last year they were half the price this year its crazy how expensive they are. If you know for sure the inectors are leaking I'd argue with bmw to get them to fix it claiming they never properly fixed it the first time. They wont look at your car though if you dont have missfire codes. I'd also suggest removing any heavy mods like DP's, tuning, ect if you go this route. No reason to give them a free excuse to send you away. I'd also empty your current tank and fill with normal gas to get the e85 out of the system.

As for the cheapest injectors I'd probably go for these. These are your best bet.

In order to get these prices you have to follow their online ordering system rules exactly.

1) When you go to there website and click no on the first coupon you tend to get the 25% off in the next coupon offer. (but if 20% is enough for you click accept)
2) Since you get free shipping order all 6 on seperate orders since the coupons max out at $50 per coupon.
3) Use different IP addresses, proxy's or cell phones to load up the site to get a new coupon to place an order with.
4) If it was me i would place an order once a day, this way it doesnt flag the system that your abusing the coupons and get them all canceled at once.

Intermotor Injectors ($137.99 or $110.39 with 20% off coupon) $662.34 Or if you wait and scope for 25% off coupons then its ($103.49 or $620.94 for all 6)

Some have claimed that the intermotor injectors are bmw injectors, but id return any non index 12 since it looks like some have recieved 11 (back in 2015 though)

OR

VDO ($203.02 or $162.41) total = $974.46 (with 20% coupon)

I think many people over estimate a service departments desire to deny a warranty claim.

Why would they try and avoid getting paid by the manufacturer of a product to do expensive work? Does the manufacturer pay them to do an inspection and determine a reason to deny a claim?

I would assume the reason is the fear they may not get reimbursed by bmw. Why cut a corner for under 1% of the cars you service? Is it worth it if bmwna starts to scrutinize other warranty claims?

Also, and this is just me guessing, bmw dealerships do not want to work on cars with aftermarket parts. There is just too much to go wrong and get blamed for bullshit. Like what if your tune was set for valet mode with waste gates open? BMW installs new turbos for you when they were not bad in the 1st place. You can see it is not worth the risk reward.

Yea i don't think I will be removing mods to get warranty work done. Probably better off doing it myself. I technically have a bumper to bumper warranty I got from the credit union (What a waste of 3k+) for another year. I am AWD with downpipes plus stock location silicone inlets. The flash back to stock and removal or turning off the jb4 not a big deal. Stock fmic will no longer attach like factory and some work would be needed to be done for the chargepipe stuff. Not even sure if I have my stock air box anymore.

Thing is I know it's dumb but for $35 I bought an anti lag jb4 kit. I hold the volume down floor it build boost but it SUCKS! MAYBE because of leaky injectors? First time I did it I let off the volume down and the car lurched before it took off. Did it right after it took off but spiked my AVG_IGN from 0.2 to 2.5. I don't really use it unless I'm trying to be cool like at automotion last week slap it in neutral hold the button spool them up and let off the gas to hear the HKS BOV @ 24 psi lol.

I don't know anything about the antilag kit but if your injectors are leaking I wouldn't drive the car for long. You have a warranty, why not use it? Does it state that you can change things on the car? These injectors cost about 1600 new I'd swap the inlets back, put the stock Airbox on and put the intercooler back and remove the jb4 and flash from the car. It's worth it in the end because there's always a chance something else is wrong which will get fixed as well.

I had an intercooler on my car and when I took it in for warranty work I took it off and used the stock pipe that came with it, I just connected that pipe to the stock outlets with a tbolt clamp and it was fine. I figured if they asked about it I would tell them I changed my coolant so I had to drop the intercooler and remove the stock 1 time use clamp.

Your downpipes should be fine, but if there is something wrong with your turbos they will blame it on that, I'd say remove them if you have turbo wategate rattle. I got my turbos and valve cover fixed under warranty and I'm glad I put it back to stock for that, costed the warranty company 9k so I got my money back for the warranty and then some.

Rear inlets are cut to get them out..
