I noticed a clunk when going from P to D or R and starting to roll. I suspected (correctly) that the origin of the clunk was in my brakes and it disappeared after I tightened up and lubricated my calipers when I installed new rotors and pads.

I believe certain kinds of clunks can also be caused by very worn bushings as well, especially if going from driving one direction to another (D>R, N>D, R>D etc) due to the diff shifting slightly when the load changes.

Normal in a manual car for a LSD to clunk when going from neutral to first or from R to first or vice versa.

Dunno about auto.

I get a clunk, but it sounds like my brakes and I'm pretty sure it is. I have AKG black diff mounts and an MFactory lsd. I have F30 brembo kit in back and its not 100% so I can't imagine it is anything else.

Did you get a full pumpkin or install a new diff into your carrier? If the latter, did you have your shim/bearing done properly?

When was the last time you worked on your brakes? I had a loose caliper which caused my clunk.

My brakes had been untouched for about four years when my clunk developed. You’re probably still good in this regard.

i got a performance shop to install the lid into the carrier and i installed the pumpkin into my car but i replaced all the bearings and provided all new shims, i was wondering if its the differential brace that is causing me to notice the clunk. Im going to remove it and see if i can still hear or feel the clunk. Also i don't hear or feel any whine or gear noise when accelerating or decelerating
