so very very very tempted to buy a cheap E90 and get back in the game with a simple bottom mount setup like this. The biggest issue as always, is keeping the OBD monitors ready to go for New York Inspections. Im allowed 2 not ready, but usually when something like a rear 02 isnt ready, it throws the heater and the catalyst as not ready as well.

Just wow, the GC updates were kind of foreshadowed...but the twin scroll single bottom mount was a shocker. I think @doublespaces, myself and a few others have been looking for this option for a while. Some have gotten close, but none have nailed it yet. This one nailed it.

Elimination of complexity, bringing reliability, and a well rounded power option. It won't have the low end grunt of something like a GC Lite, but it'll be less complex. It won't have the full top end power potential of some of the tubular kits out there like ACF...but it will actually ship. This should sit right in the middle between a set of hybrid twins and a tubular single. In my opinion the goldilocks zone.

ACF had my curiosity but now VTT has my attention.

I'll be altering my build plans and concentrate on my drivetrain and other items until this single kit becomes available.

VTT always has a nice looking product and this definitely does not fail. So many small issues with the top mount kits out there. It seems from all my reading there is no real plug and play kit that doesn’t cast 6-9k ++. I know you guys try to sell a top quality product in every way. Fingers crossed it’s not so far out of my price range when my twins fail. Definitely looking forward to reviews and some more info on these two new progressions of old ad new setups

For daily driver duties here on the island i would gladly sacrifice that low end kick in the balls a bit. for some smoother mid-range power, but not the frenzied freight train rush from 6k+.

Yeah. I don’t want to mess with all that fuel modification and such. I’m going I get a stage 2 meth setup, an in-line walboro pump and some turbo setup when I get all the other goodies. Just want 500 reliable hp around 3k to 6k rpm for drivability. I’m sure I’ll get the bug for more later though :-/

The desire for reliability and the sketchest fueling solution imaginable don't go well together. Your fueling plan is very 2010. If you want reliability, and 500hp, then go with a LPFP upgrade (even a bucketed stage 2 will do) and a single barrel shotgun. Least complexity and proven combination with rock solid reliability.

@Chris@VargasTurboTech and @Tony@VargasTurboTech just curious, you switched from stainless to cast iron on the GC manifolds and turbine housings. Was that simply a result of switching foundries/suppliers, or was there a technical reason behind it? I know D5S is popular in general with turbine housings, but it seems like the latest fad is the stainless turbine housings like those that Tial offers.

It was a calculated move for the GC’s. We actually feel D5S is a more robust material for casting than most stainless (Stainless does offer some benefits, its more lightweight, is one). If you look at Garrett’s offerings they offer nothing but their standard cast housings, and their new line up of housings is D5S Ni-Resist which they have used in all their motorsports programs for years, this includes Formula 1, WRC, etc. The cost for casting both is similar. This isn’t to say we won’t offer Stainless in other offerings in the future, but we felt for the GC's doing Ni-resist for both pieces insures they are thermally compatible, grow, and shrink at the same rate, and can take anything we throw at them.

It wasn’t really my plan to use meth/water as a fuel, more to help with IAT and that little bit of safety for another psi or 2. I do hear what you are saying though. Cant I get 450 awhp with stage 2 LPFP and no shotgun?

Fresh hpfp, healthy motor shouldn't be a problem, particularly on E mixes. It's not a bad way to go, you won't break dyno records but it's simple and car will be in the "fun street car" category for sure! Can always add more fueling capacity later. :)

Fresh hpfp
I see this mentioned from time to time. What does fresh hpfp mean? I don't yeah ... yeah I understand "new". But what makes an HPFP worn out, I suppose? In my case I have a 28k miles late 2010 HPFP in my Z4, and I'm soon installing a single barrel shotgun.

Thanks,

Filippo

For example: when first tuning my car for e50 my rail pressure was good!! Now (about 6 months later) my rail pressure is not as high as it once was. My hpfp is struggling a little bit to keep up with the fuel demand. In your case, you hpfp is more than likely fine but something you should be monitoring because it’s still 8 years old now.
