I also got my Servotronic programmed. In this video the assist levels are maxed out, but afterward I had @LMB335is stiffen it back up a little bit closer to the 1M settings. It doesn't seem to tax the power steering pump as much and it still feels pretty good:

And lastly I made a short video of a couple pulls at 15 PSI, forgive the shaky camera, I was testing a new setup. Car is currently up to 20 psi and will be headed for 25 psi soon.

I tried to mount this Samsung Gear 360 camera to the roof of the car, needless to say the quality is awful and its squirms around too much in the wind:

My cluster camera works quite well however:

Here are some other goodies I've bought but haven't installed yet:

Wait, you're going to wrap your car yourself?

Don't you already have the Mfactory diff, or am I looking at something else in that picture?
Yeah, but that is a 6AT LSD. I'm doing a DCT swap, so I need LSD for that too :) I wasn't sure if anyone would notice that haha

Wait, you're going to wrap your car yourself?

Good eye! This is just a clear bra to UV protect my carbon trunk. Hopefully I don't f*ck it off.

Was the car on jackstands or lift when you took that video turning the steering wheel? Don't think I was ever able to turn my stock steering rack with just the palm of my hand at a standstill, without worrying about scratching the soft nappa leather.

No, car was on the ground in my garage.

Yeah, and if you know how stiff the stock M3 steering is without it, that's saying a lot. You can hear the engine go under load a bit as you approach the locks, the car is literally being picked up a little bit. I turned the assist back some and it seems to have made that less noticeable.

I made another video real quick. The lugging still happens near the locks, makes me wonder what its like on the stock rack. But in this video you can see the responsiveness of the power steering portion. From a standstill, there appears to be no adverse effects from using the 335i power steering pump with the settings I have in place.

EDIT: Video removed because I accidentally deleted it from youtube

lugging is normal, i would say. my car does with stock 335i rack since it was new. the engine picks up a bit of rpm to compensate for the load at full lock when the suspension geometry is forcing the rack to lift up the chassis a bit.

lighter steering would be nice if you drive in city a lot. i remember that one time i hurt my wrist a few years back and it was quick painful drive this thing around the parking lot...

The hardest part is getting the film off the liner. I use a huge piece of glass or the hood (really clean surface), use lots of water, rinse the film anywhere you touch it. You can also pull the film back carefully and rinse if you see dirt or if you are going too slow and it dries before you squeegee. It will look pretty bad at first but the water bubbles will smooth out and if any air bubbles don't after 3 or 4 days, you can poke the smallest hole and push out the air. Just remember, it will look bad while it is drying out, give it time, Lol.

Been a few months since my last update, several things have happened since then:

I picked up some Federal RS-RR 275/35/19 and 235/35/19 for $520 to my door. With the 5mm spacer I have on to clear my calipers, the rear tires rub a little bit when I go over bumps.

I managed to finally import an official BMW Fire Extinguisher. There is a thread about it here:
https://bmw.spoolstreet.com/threads/fire-extinguisher-in-the-car.3032/
But here is what it looks like installed:
20180426_223245.jpg 20180426_223229.jpg 20180426_223245.jpg 20180426_223056.jpg 20180426_222359.jpg

I got some M3 stuff for my DCT swap. I think I'll convert it to a normal DCT and then change it out for an M3 GTS flash later, but I picked up the hardware already. At the time, it was not easy to find a convertible M3 with CIC iDrive. The leather will need replaced:
20180512_120606.jpg 20180512_120626.jpg

I finally made up my mind on my PCV setup. Since I already had purchased several parts, I decided to follow through with a dual can configuration. I do not like the messy and erratic plumbing most dual can setups have. When I look at them, usually it feels like lots of compromise. So I decided to do it my own way, it was not cost effective if that is something you're worried about. I'll make a thread on this later perhaps.

I broke off an intake manifold stud in the head. Then the stud extractor broke off in said hole. Ended up just drilling the extractor out, then the stud, then using a helicoil:

I started getting a lumpy startup and my LTFTs were way out of wack, cylinder 6 plug was black. I took this time to finally put in those Index 12 injectors I had been sitting on.

I got some adjustable shocks for the carbon fiber trunk. I still need to adjust the pressure and finish installing.

Here is where things went bad. I was troubleshooting a problem with my car that I was afraid might be rod knock:

At first I hoped it was my HPFP going bad but it didn't sound like it was coming from that area. I did a compression and leakdown test and boroscoped my cylinders. There were a few times I was convinced a new motor was going to be needed, even though this one had barely begun to see 23-24 psi and my car has 60k miles. I pulled the hpfp off and it still made the sound so I turned the crank by hand while feeling around and traced it to the power steering pump. Very long story short, it was my ECS Aluminum power steering pulley. I re-torqued the bolts, and the noise went away. It is a little bit disturbing because they were already pretty tight. I think(and have heard) the pulley is actually not a fantastic product and the bolts are known to shear.

MFactory 8-bolt DCT SMFW came in the mail, yes that is all the DCT flywheel combinations for these cars in one photo, not counting the S55 flywheel:

Oh, and I've been testing a prototype Pro Tool bluetooth adapter for a few weeks. This thing is gonna take over when you factor in the monitoring and logging abilities, it rocks. I've been using a prototype which is 3d printed, but there is an injection molded version that looks very professional.

Nice updates. Thanks for the link to the fire extinguisher - hadn't seen that. Please keep us posted on the Federal tires - I'm interested in a set this coming spring. I'm about to do low side PCV and don't really care for all the plumbing either. Nice to see how you did it.

Really interested in the rsrr tires. Curious how they do in the wet, it rains pretty frequently here. On MPSS now and dry traction isn't sufficient but I like that my life isn't in danger when it rains.

Also would love info on your PCV/catch can setup. Need to decide on a solution w/ my ST build getting closer.

Nice update!!!

Can you go into detail about your servotronic? I have the M3 rack too, in my E82. Mostly a track car, but it is a pain moving that thing around in tight spaces. Full body workout, especially in Recaro fixed backs.
Sick build!
