Who has this Crank Seal Protection Plate?

I just came across this crank seal protection plate. It’s supposed to prevent the serpentine belt from getting sucked into the crank seal if it shreds. Anyone try it?

Also FYI - the description says “Patent Pending #62751,548”. Most likely they mean U.S. provisional patent application serial number 62/751,548, which is not yet published nor examined, so it is not “patented” as the guy in the video states. Chinese should be able to make these for $1.00

I am sure this will be knocked off in no time. If the vendor just offered it at a fair price no one would bother knocking it off.

Assuming it works of course...

1/8" plate aluminum scrap, a drill, jig saw, drum sander, and a vise for two 90 degree bends?

Just curious if anyone here purchased this plate, it's an intriguing concept albeit over priced imo. I'd like to get this as an ultimate back up plan incase high stresses on the track causes the belt to break, unlikely with good maintenance but it might be possible if an oil leak were to occur.

Oh and I'm also curious to know what effect removing those two bolts at the crank "flange" area where the crank seal plate would be bolted into would do, especially since they're also responsible for holding the block together. Would this cause the seal to be compromised because of a slight shift and the block to leak? Because I don't know if there was a specific torque pattern for these bolts, and if there is what would happen if those two bolts were removed.

Oof that looks bad. How did it break, did the belt break cause the plate to break? Also did it damage the car?

Bad quality welds and so thin it bent in mail probably it was hitting my pulleys so I removed it. No damage to car thank goodness. Best option new pulleys and belt and call it good! It’s $125 for pulleys and kit online less then the protector!

Yeah looks to be because it was rubbing, probably should have made sure it wasn't before driving the car. It has to be thin to fit behind the pulley,

There is another seller on ebay that sells his for $95.\

Edit: hahah he bumped the price to $295 for some reason LMAO. It had been $95 for a whhile, then $150, then back to $95. Now it's 295

Gee whiz a knock off that's even more expensive than the original, how does that even work? The tolerances look a bit off though, there's more of a gap in the bottom left of the image vs. too right. So anyone who buys this needs to make sure it's not rubbing against the crank hub.
