@Slow335is the problem with 15s is you look like a drag racing hardo 24/7. No offense, just how it looks to me when I something like that on the street.

V70A medium compound Kumhos are on now as well as an alignment refresh, replacing the AD08Rs, same 285 18 inch . Early testing they are much better at holding power, better all round cornering and much less road noise. But to be expected for a 50 wear rating tyre.

Speaking of low thread-wear tires - does anyone know how different brands of slicks compare to each other? I can't find any recent tire reviews for slicks that compare across brands. I have asked a few racing drivers and they also don't seem to know, as competitions limit the tire choice to one brand/sponsor. Obviously soft compounds are faster while hard compounds last longer, and obvisouly some brands spend more on marketing than others, but which brands offer the best technology, value for money etc?

The selection of soft ,medium etc rating is also about things like ambient temps, car weight/downforce and time taken to generate warmth.

I just got the medium compound for V70A as the BMW is a pretty heavy car and I live in a realatively warm place.

Monitoring tyre temps and pressure setting is more critical with slicks but, also arguably easier as the pressure ranges wont usually be as wide.

Because none of the slicks really last a long time , some affordable ones in a compound that people like to run on your local tracks and relative vehicle size might be a good place to start. Buy a propper tyre temp probe as opposed to a hand held laser version and set cold pressures to target even temps across the tyre surface (outside , middle , inside). Always set cold pressures and warm up as trying to bleed out hot air is while the gas is cooling or 'moving' in temp Vs static.

Be ready to break stuff (extra grip puts more load on things) and make sure you baffle the sump/have oil control figured out , as the g's will put you at risk of oil starving.

They work great. The 18s squeeze over the top nicely. The studs are a pain in the ass though, always looking for the special socket that I really should just keep in the boot.

Early V70A feedback. They are much quieter than the AD08s . Don't tramline as much , steering feel is lighter and more direct, definately better lateral grip (not suprising). Far more sticky. Will do some further testing . Possibly 1/4 mile and rolls.

Thanks for the feedback, @rev210. This tire seems to have limited availability in the USA (two places I found only had 17"). AUS lists a host of sizes. 18" max, so I'm out :-( ... but if there is a USA supplier that carries sizing beyond 17" that's good for others reading, I suspect.

How many miles on them so far and do you think they are suitable for street.

Have you driven them in the cool/wet yet?

I think sold under V700 as opposed to V70A perhaps?

Not many miles maybe 100 or so.
Suitable for the street ? Yes. If you mean the highest level of street tyre before jumping to a full race slick. They have a short life span being made to grip. But, I will say that they transform the car. Its night and day over the AD08s and they are a far better than something like the federal rsrr.

So you arent going for longevity with these. Pay to enjoy the car more, its like when you put the boot in.

Fine at lower temps so far. Its summer here but, these are reported to be ok in the wet better than or at least as good as the best of the 200 wear rating or lower semi's. They have a similar tread pattern to the kumho 'wets' race tyres.

Bit more feedback on the V70As .
In the dry the grip is amazing. All traction control off and full throttle in 2nd gear all day. My car runs 10.7@131mph full weight, so holding lots of power-600rwhp+.
Had some rain last night and drive on them ,no issues of aquaplane. Even found them hooking quite well on slightly damp roads once the rain cleared.

These tyres seem to have some reviews by the mustang and corvette folk.
For US customers there are definately more sizes around (quick google) https://www.grandamericantires.com/tires/make/kumho/ecsta-v700-v70a/

More feedback on V70A medium compound.
- i have given these hell on a 28psi e85 tune and they just hook.
- superior to cups ,rsrr and every other tyre i have had on cars in the past, except drag radial thus far in straight line grip.
- had some rain and they were perfectly fine getting around . Good level of confidence, so better than rsrr and other summer oriented tyres I have tried in the past.
- great lateral grip and feedback
- less noise than AD08rs , federals and a few others i have tried
- little firmer in terms of ride , so feel a little more bumps but, controlable and not uncomfortable (i have track orientated suspension anyway)

In summary I am definately running these for the sheer driving enjoyment they offer as a daily or for track. If you have spent the coin to get 600rwhp or more ,then driving on tyres that let you get to 100% of the experience is just smart. Compromise is literally chopping back the car to mortal levels that are boring and disapointing by comparison. New street tyre pick, so i just need to up my yearly tyre budget so i can buy 2 sets a year haha..

I did a quick google turns out, like Australia where I am based, you need to find a dealer who has access to kumho motorsport lines. summit racing have the 285 18s listed but as 'unavailable online' /call to order. I think you would custom order them, they usually arent advertised as online orders as the v70a and v700 come in soft medium and hard compounds, so as in my case you have to specify. Mine are medium.
There are folk on the corrvette and other forums running them in the US from google search.
