What is this sensor?

I finally got this sensor out of the block and I'm trying to figure out what exactly it is. Looks like a smaller version of the vanos solenoids but it was located on the front of the block, passenger side, 10 o'clock in relation to the crank hub. Its from an n55b30 out of a 2012 F30.

This is it, says hydraulic but it may be for vanos as vanos is controlled by oil pressure

I appreciate it! I ended up figuring it out. It's the oil pressure regulator that the decided was a good idea on the n55.
