You will break it at the yolk where the Driveshaft screws into the Diff. This is the weak link on the stock 335 rear ends.So if I get an mfactory lsd and axles, will I just snap my driveshaft?
As I'm dct(2.56 final drive) getting an m3 setup is a real PITA.

Just go with the DCt M3 diff. It's 3.15FD. You will love the added acceleration from the lower gears. And with the DCT overdrive 7th, you should not lose much on cruising. It will bolt up, just need a driveshaft.Fcuk. This is what I keep hearing. The M3 swap is a bit of a mission on a dct car.

This. If you're going to go through the trouble of the M3 drivetrain install, which is actually pretty simple, even with getting the driveshaft shortened, you can stay with the 3.15. Sure you'll sacrifice a little on the top, but spend another $500-700 and upgrade to the M3 GWS and supporting parts, use the M3 GTS flash and pick up adjustable launch control, drivelogic, and all the other little things that makes the M3 version of the DCT so much nicer. I do a few 1/2 miles events a yr so I opted to spend the extra $ for the 2.81 but it's not necessary.Apparently 2.81 is as high as you can go before the TCU perceives that the difference from estimated wheel speed is due to clutch slip and goes into limp mode or throws some other hissy fit.
Should be as simple as going in, and changing a few tables to keep the DME happy, but don't quote me on that.Apparently 2.81 is as high as you can go before the TCU perceives that the difference from estimated wheel speed is due to clutch slip and goes into limp mode or throws some other hissy fit.
Does the 2.81 diff have or work within the stronger yolk like the m3 diff? This. The 2.81 gear is 210mm and is a direct swap for the 3.15 gear. It came out of a 850i diff. Almost all the V8 BMWs of the 90's used 210mm gears.Does the 2.81 diff have or work within the stronger yolk like the m3 diff?
