@Njrep335i What happened to this? Did you ever get a proper turbo put on? Seems like this was the only real issue I saw in that thread.

Let's not get ahead ourselves. Any 1200whp+ setup is going to lag big time on a 3.0L motor. Prob wont hit full boost till 5-5.5k rpm. Futhemore you don't need a twin setup to make 1200whp. A 7275 gen 2 or 7675 PTE will make that and Josh was able to throw 7675 on a Jpworkz kit

I haven't followed his build since constantly claiming 950whp (when he had the 6870) and posting videos of him getting mopped by cars with so called similar power. hopefully he actually dynos the car or at least runs a 1/4 this time.

This build is something I had bounced around in my head as well as a Compound Twin Setup. this car will make some big power with a good engine. And from what I was told the engine will be straight. Looking forward to Tuning this thing when shes ready.

How long will it be before we see some compound setups? Trying to cram that in the engine bay woule be intresting to say the least

I'm local to him. He has never had a 6870 in his car. It was 6766 then he jumped up to 7675. As far as a compound setup why go that route? Are cars aren't diesel and we don't require 50psi+ to make power. On a proper size turbo(71mm+), fully built engine, we should be able to hit 1000whp with 30-33psi.

OK well...the owner should make up his mind on what he want to tell people. Get his/their or whoevers story straight....

Right from his mouth...not evenaa minute into the vide

And he has also stated 6870 multiple times on the Internets.

And let's not forget the fact that I have 6870s spooling to 20psi by 3200rpms.

Sure may be laggier than other twin setups. But when going for 1200hp. Lag is not something that won't increase some.

Then you're not paying attention to the actual turbo in the video. Look at the compressor cover. That's an H cover not an SP cover like everybody else runs in the 335i community. Also look at the compressor wheel. Gen 2 pte turbos(i.e 6870) have a 7 blade profile not 6 like the turbo shown in the video. The turbo in that video is no other then a 7675. Futhemore I still don't see the point of a compound setup esp at the power level we're at. Why add extra components and heat when you don't need too?

I barely watched the video. Let alone close enough to look and decipher what Turbo.

Even more of a reason to not take him seriously if that's the case. Lol. Because he clearly states the car is running a6870 in the video

I can’t deny that this is extremely cool but I don’t really see the point personally.

The heat is going to be very difficult to deal with. Those two up top are just going to be sitting in their own heat and lots of it.

I don’t think these are going to spool very fast at all regardless of how efficient they are. Physics are physics. That’s a lot of turbo to spool.

Regardless, you can’t ever bash on something or someone for dishing out a lot of money on something cool and trying to innovate so huge kudos to Jon and the owner for going through with this. I am impressed for sure. Looking forward to being proved wrong!

Personally im not a drag racer so i could be far wrong but compounda arnt only used for diesels. Just off the top of my head i can think of a few 4g63 guys running compounds. May be a bit different cause 4 vs 6 but the idea still would stand. Compound isnt only meant for making 1xxx nunbers.

I remember this guy... He posted virtual dynos and had the whole community setting him in flames for a month or two on FB. Total douchery.

I love 'because I can' projects, more power to him. Lots of shit I do to my car is because I enjoy the process of doing things the way I feel would be entertaining or meet my expectations. Often, this is overly complicated, incredibly time consuming and generally speaking, the opposite of feasible.

So I get to see how this unfolds and best of all? Its not my money.
