Did a service on my 06 530i with the 6HP19Z, new solenoids, new bridge seal, new sleeve, new fluid and pan. Shifter would move, actually trans wouldn't engage. Fluid level is good. Found tonight with my scanner that when the shifter is in Park, nuetral and drive the trans is actually in 1st gear. It will actually try to move in nuetral. What did I mess up and more importantly how do I fix??

You screwed up the shift arm when you dropped the valve body.
Going to have to drop it all again and fix it.

I have a Foxwell scanner which allows me to check the trans position and actual gear, going to drop the pan tomorrow and try again, thanks!
Welp, just dropped the pan and the shift arm was actually engaged correctly. Now however it shows to be in 3rd gear while the shifter is in Park, reverse, nuetral and drive. Prior it was showing 1st gear in Park, nuetral and drive. I have my scanner hooked up to check the gears, how do I fix this??
Is the plunger on the valve body fluid actuated? I don't understand how it jumped gears without being driven? Wondering if it was trying to fill with fluid to work properly?
