Thoughts on ST build?

So ive been trying to do some research for diffrent ways to upgrade the stock turbos, looking into different twins and ST setups.

However after ive done some browsing a question popped up, since im quite new to both the N54 and also the whole tuning scene this idea might be a very stupid one.
I stumbled upon the SPA exhaust manifold for the N54, which was quite steeply priced.
But if one could get a hold of one of those, strap one of theese turbo's on --> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kinugawa...lve/253621812504?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144
Blocked off the WG port on the manifold and got a downpipe fabricated.
Wouldnt that result in a kickass ST-kit for less than the really cheap ST kits available?

Or what would the main issues be with the ideas/parts above?
Based on that the actual turbo fits that is.. :D

Main issue is don’t think spa mani is even actually production and spending more than $5 on that junk turbo is stupid

Don't buy that. There is a well priced cast manifold kit coming very soon.

From who?
I've read about many different kits being just ready for the past year, all of them stating that they would produce cheap entry kits which would break the market.
Until today none of them have actually been able to release the kit on time or at all even..

Just hang tight a bit more.

are you thinking of the 4n kit or which kit/pricing?

4N is a dud afaik

Last I spoke with Chris, VTT bottom mount ST is looking at Q3 2018 release. DBV2 is still working on their bottom mount kit also but they're experiencing some setbacks

Who?

Also why would the 4n be a dud kit?
From my understanding it performed well.

Also I'd rather not support VTT since Thony spreads cancer around him with all the angry posts. If that is how he behaves in public I'd rather not have to use their customer service..

Sorry not to be secretive but it's not for me to say. My only point was, yes they are coming.

Filippo
Lol okay, so there might be a kit coming.
I might be good or might not, do you know when it night come and why is this someone so secret about the information?
That sounds very fishy. .

The problem with the forums ... so much intrigue. Yeah I'm sure it is shit, which is why I posted, and you are being swindled right now. Did you feel me pull the money out of your wallet? sheesh.

It's not secrecy, it's respecting someone else's right to control their own message, marketing, and destiny. I'm not looking to speak for others. Just reinforcing that options are imminent.

It's like telling someone they are doing something the incorrect way, then refusing to tell them how it should be done.

For all i know the kit you have in mind might have been mentioned here in this thread already or it might not.
It might also be released soon with a nice price tag or it might be released 2020 and cost as the motiv kit..
I mean for all I know I might have talked to Mr X or I might not, I will never know.

Its generally worthless information for someone whose only goal is to make decisions right now. But it can have value when thought of as a heads up, saving you from regretting a decision later. Hopefully you can see the value in that. But as was mentioned above, when someone says, "Don't show anyone", that has to be respected.

The issue is that it gives no time frame or expected price. In my case I'm thinking of buying a kit in the upcoming 6months.
But since I have no idea when this kit will be released or if it might be in my budget, there will be no point in waiting since it possibly won't be interesting for me.

That's why I think that the information that a "kit is in progress" is quite worthless I'm afraid. I don't want to come off as rude and I understand that there might be some information that might be "secret" but just stating like a 6months timeframe or like a price range of 3000-4000 would be sufficient information for me to make S decision if this would be interesting for me.

Even if the kit is the best the market have ever seen, it wont be interesting for me if it costs 8000 or is getting released in 2020..

Well, there is already the 4N as you mentioned before, the group buy for that is already open and it costs 3750. A dedicated thread should pop up for that later today.

Hardly. If *I* told you were doing something the wrong way, then maybe so. In this case I've just shared that I know there is another kit coming. It's not MY place to share specifics.
For all i know the kit you have in mind might have been mentioned here in this thread already or it might not.
Once again, I'm that stupid. Sure let me say that ANOTHER kit is coming ... but it is one already named. Yes ... that would be the definition of ANOTHER.
It might also be released soon with a nice price tag or it might be released 2020 and cost as the motiv kit.. I mean for all I know I might have talked to Mr X or I might not, I will never know.
I have no idea what the pricing will be - and given this is a discussion about budget down single setups, I would be an idiot AGAIN to be saying another one is coming that would be the cost of a Motiv kit. Secondly, 2020 ... might as well be 2050. I can't say 6 months - hell dude, if you believe a vendor that tells you 6 months, you're the fool ... why the hell would you believe my second hand guess?! What I know is sooner rather than later, which is AGAIN why I posted what I did originally on the thread.

If you find the information worthless, just move on. I told you I'm respecting someone else's right to control information - obviously yet another piece of information you don't appreciate.

I think you're being overly hyperbolic and seem a bit too personally peeved about it man. Their intentions were just to say don't put all your eggs in one basket right this second, unless you need a bottom mount yesterday. Not so much "you're doing that wrong" as much as "hey you know how you like the old M5? Well something similar is coming to the market" would've been to say 9 months ago - but the dealership wouldn't have been able to give you the paperwork to sign on the spot because it wasn't not up to them.

I'm in the same boat as you. I need new turbos soon from the looks of things, want to get it done by next spring at the latest, and I'm heavily considering a bottom mount single. Personally I'm super grateful for the info ordered up. I know by the time I'm ready to have something put on I'll likely have an option to match my desires, rather than if I were to just buy the first sub-8K kit that hits the market and not put it on until after something better is announced.

Worst case scenario is double and morelli told you about something you don't need and it doesn't effect you (like a hundred other things you probably see in a day), best case scenario is you get something better at a cheaper price when you're ready. No reason to be salty.
